Update #11: HvZ SOURCE has launched!
Hey HvZ Backers -
This has been an exciting week for us, after about two years of design, work, and testing, we've launched the new version of HvZ SOURCE.
We've re-written the software from the ground up, and we're currently working on the next batch of features which will include the premium features you will all get.
Here's an updated screencast of the new software:
We'd love to know what you think of the new software - you can leave a comment on Kickstarter or reach us at Hosting@HvZSOURCE.com.
Thanks again for your support and patience,
- The HvZ SOURCE Team
Update #10: Update on Humans vs. Zombies SOURCE!
Hey wonderful backers,
Max and the HvZ team here, writing to give you some updates on the HvZ SOURCE software. We're in full-blown development mode, working every day to design and code this beast.
First of all, we want to acknowledge and apologize for the fact that our software is late. Here's what's going on:
1. To begin, we don't work on HvZ for the money (none of us have made so much as a nickel off of the game) - we work on Humans vs. Zombies because we love y'all and we love what the game stands for.
2. Because we love Humans vs. Zombies, we are not willing to compromise on the quality of the software that we make. None of us cares about rushing our software to market as much as we care about creating the best software possible. Being broke also limits our ability to make mistakes in the development process - we need to make sure we get this right the first time.
3. We want to make software that works for all 600+ games of Humans vs. Zombies and scales elegantly to meet the demands of new games. As you can imagine, this takes a whole lot of planning and work.
So... here's where we are now. We've got a great team of developers, and we're hoping (but not promising) that we can get this software ready for this fall's HvZ season.
Today, we want to share some of the our latest front-end designs with you - we hope you'll be as excited as we are about the way this is coming along.
We're not trying to make Duke Nukem Forever here, but we still want to do a great job. Thanks for sticking with us, and we look forward to hearing from you; we'd love to get your feedback and answer your questions about the new HvZ SOURCE software. You can reach us here or at info@hvzsource.com
With love,
- Max Temkin and the Humans vs. Zombies Team
Update #9: T-Shirts Have Arrived!
Hey HvZ Supporters -
We just got our KickStarter t-shirts from the printer, and we'll be blasting them out next week!
If you pre-ordered a Plus (+) Account for $10 we'll be sending you a little something to say thanks for your support, and when we launch the new HvZ SOURCE software next fall, we'll send you your free Plus (+) account. You'll be the first people who can make squads, and have access to all of our premium features.
If you got the Plus (+) Account and the KickStart HvZ T-Shirt for $25 we'll be sending you everything above, as well as your t-shirt.
If you got the Plus (+) Account and the KickStart HvZ T-Shirt and a custom thank-you song for $50 we'll be sending you everything above, and a rockin' song.
If you have any questions, you can reach us at info@hvzsource.com or contact us through KickStarter.

Update #8: Reminder to our Backers: Please Claim Your T-Shirts!
Update #7: Only 48 Hours To Go
HvZ Supporters -
Our Kickstarter fundraising drive is coming to a close - our project will end in about 48 hours.
We've been really flattered and surprised by your amazing generosity. Even after we reached our $2,000 goal, support continued to come in.
Before our project ends, there is still time to change your reward. For example, if you pledged $25 initially, you are free to add the t-shirt.
We have hired and begun work with our developers on the new HvZ SOURCE software - our plan is to roll out the new software next fall.
Check below for a sneak peek into our design process... we're working through each page in wireframe, and creating tickets based on these designs for our development team.
Thank you again for all your support,
- Max
p.s. As a reminder, we'll be in touch shortly to get your t-shirt size information and shipping address through KickStarter.
Update #6: We're Funded
Backers,
Yesterday at 5:46pm EST our supporter Rob pledged $75 and put us over the top of our $2,000 goal.
On behalf of myself, Chris, Joe, Brad, Justin, Trevor, and Humans vs. Zombies players everywhere, we are humbled and deeply grateful for your support. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Every one of us works on Humans vs. Zombies all year, completely for free. We believe that Humans vs. Zombies brings people together to have fun, and our dream is to make some unbelievably cool software to make that happen. With your help and your generosity, we are realizing that dream.
Our project will run out the last 42 days of funding, which will give people opportunities to pick up a last t-shirt or pre-order their Plus (+) account. Our development costs will run us well over $2,000, so every dollar we get is enormously helpful.
When the project comes to an end, Kickstarter has tools that will help us contact you so we can get your t-shirt size and your shipping address. We'll also send out a little special something to everyone who made a pledge to us on Kickstarter.
If you have any other questions, you can leave a reply to this post, you can contact the whole HvZ team at contact@hvzsource.com, or you can contact me personally at Max@Temkin.com.
Thank you again for everything, you have made us so proud to work on Humans vs. Zombies .
- Max Temkin, and the HvZ Team
Update #5: $500 Remain
Only 18 of our exclusive "KickStart Humans vs. Zombies" t-shirt remain - if you've given $10 and want to claim one, just drop us another $15 and you can edit your reward.
Update #4: 70% Funded - Holy Cow!
Humans,
We are quite frankly blown away by your support. We've reached 70% of the funding we need to hire our Django developers and start building the new HvZ SOURCE. We're fired up, and we hope you are too.
We've added a new reward!
Some of you were looking for a reward above and beyond the $25 level. If you contribute $50 or more to help us hire our Django developers, Chris, myself, and the rest of the HvZ team will record a personalized thank-you song. It may also heavily borrow from the plot of our favorite film, RoboCop.
Some Q+A...
Question: If I've already given money, can I give more and get a more expensive reward?
Answer: Absolutely! Just contribute the difference and select the reward you want. (For example, if you gave $10 but you now want the exclusive "KickStart Humans vs. Zombies" t-shirt, just give another $15).
Question: How will you get our rewards to us?
Answer: After our project is funded, Kickstarter will help us get in touch with our backers. We'll get in touch to find out your t-shirt size, your shipping address, and the e-mail address for your pre-paid HvZ Plus (+) account.
Thank you again!
Your support means so much to us... thank you, thank you, thank you again.

Update #3: Half way home - new EXCLUSIVE HvZ KickStarter T-Shirt!
Friends,
Thanks to your support, we have raised half of the funding we need for our developers after only 1/3 of our project's length.
To celebrate, we've added a new reward... for a pledge of $25, we will hook you up with the most exclusive Humans vs. Zombies t-shirt we have ever made.
Only 40 of these "KickStart HvZ" t-shirts will ever exist, and they will only ever be worn by our most loyal organizers and supporters.
If me or Chris or Joe or anyone from the HvZ team ever sees you wearing one of these, we'll high five you so hard that your whole arm will dislocate.
If you have already given $25 or more, we will contact you at the end of our drive and offer you a t-shirt.
Thank you again for your support - we are working hard to bring this home and deliver an unbelievable piece of software.
