Article in Hello Giggles!
Hey everyone - thanks to all the DC-ers who came to my book reading yesterday. It was a lot of fun!
As an update, I'm working to get those added thank you pages into the book pronto. I think the new pages are going to be really cute.
Also ... ta-DAA! Here's a new article, published in Hello Giggles, an extremely trendy website for young women. Trendy as in my traffic went up sixfold.
"You Can Do It, Bunny" is OFFICIALLY an "Item of the Day"!
Item of the Day by Kerry Winfry
When I graduated from college four years ago (can I get a moment of silence for my youth?), the economy was just starting to implode. I moved back in with my parents, went on tons of interviews and occasionally wished I’d majored in something a little more practical than creative writing. The interview process was basically all of the bad parts of dating, like being anxious and getting dressed up, and none of the good parts, like free dinners and the possibility of making out (unless you’re on a really weird, inappropriate interview). In short, it was the worst.
Those of you who recently graduated are probably dealing with a lot of the same things. The economy is still no great shakes and I’m sure interviewers are still asking questions like, “So what’s your biggest weakness?” Job hunting is frustrating and sometimes it can feel hopeless. If you’re currently dealing with general unemployment malaise, you should check out You Can Do It, Bunny!: Tales of a Young Animal’s Job Hunting Adventures. Described as The Berenstain Bears meets Go the F*** to Sleep, You Can Do It, Bunny! is the story of recently-graduated bunny who endures a journey full of interviews, rejections and (finally) a job. Christina Mercado wrote and illustrated the story, which she based on her own experiences job hunting. The book takes what can be a depressing experience and makes it cute and encouraging. It’s a scientific fact (probably) that problems look 95% more adorable when a bunny is dealing with them.
Next time you’re exhausted from hours spent trolling the job listings on Craigslist, check out You Can Do It, Bunny! and remember your job hunting journey won’t last forever.
