About this project
The Project Last year (2008) I was commissioned to create a series of paintings for the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue, Nebraska. The paintings depicted each of the services and the major wars beginning with World War II. And even though I did include women in these paintings, I was, myself, disappointed with their representation when the series was completed. So, I'm asking for your help to make it right.
I want to create a painting that will honor and depict brave women who have served our country and helped to ensure and protect our freedom throughout our history, from the revolutionary war to the present. My hope is that this work will recall the bravery and pride shown by all those amazing women who choose to give of themselves to us and our country. Upon completion of the painting, I would frame it and then give it as a gift to the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, where it will be displayed to the veterans, their families and friends, visitors and staff.
I've already spoken to Col. Howard D. Googins, USAF retired, the Facility Administrator for the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, and he and his staff are excited about the possibility of having this painting displayed at the home.

By way of introduction, my name is Teri Rosario. I'm a Nebraska based artist who's paintings have graced the walls of corporate, government and private collectors alike. Working in a realistic style, I have translated the visions of my clients into works that inspire conversation, pride, inner thought and sometimes simply a serenity of place.
Traditional Realism is the genre I am most passionate about and within which I work. I have studied and researched the methods of oil painting which the old masters used. The use of successive layers of paint, each with more oil content, gives a painting depth that I think is unsurpassed in any 2D medium. I've incorporated these techniques within my work. In addition, when extreme durability is desired, as for Public Art works, I again use a tried and true method of painting on primed, wood panels and finishing them off with a protective layer of retouch varnish.
These are the methods and techniques I used to create the paintings for my most recent Public Art Commission. Through the 1% for Art Program in Nebraska, I was commissioned to create a series of 6 paintings for the new Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home. Working closely with the administration of the Veterans Home and the Nebraska Arts Council I have been able to create works of art that will be a source of pride for the residents, family and staff of ENVH for many years to come.
Incorporating 21st Century technology with my art process allowed the staff of both the Nebraska Arts Council and the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home along with residents of the ENVH to follow along on almost a daily basis with the process of creating the works. My website contains a Work-in-Progress Gallery where I have posted regular updates for all the works in this commission. This process allowed for a collaborative interaction between us that was beneficial to all involved and I believe resulted in artworks that were better than they would have been otherwise.
My inspiration for my art comes from many places: my own journey through life; the awe-inspiring beauty of nature; my personal spirituality; suggestions from family and friends; my sense of humor etc..... Some artists that have had an influence on my style and genre, and those that I admire most, are: Norman Rockwell, Alphonse Mucha, Adolphe Bouguereau, Maxfield Parrish, J.W. Waterhouse and John Singer Sargent to name a few.
When I'm not painting or sketching or keeping this website functioning, I do have a hobby or two. The biggest of which is riding my motorcycle with my husband and our biker friends. It's wonderful to be out on the open road with no particular place to go. Just the sun and the wind and the road.
It is my hope to be able to continue to create work that inspires and touches the lives of people.
