WHO WE ARE:
We are student filmmakers from Ohio University, but we are taking our education into our own hands. To develop our craft further, we have taken on a fully independent film project. Our crew and cast have come together in the shared love of science fiction, a genre we feel that is not fully embraced by our school.

OUR PROJECT:
"The Nameless Cryst" is a science fiction feature film based in the year 7028 and in another galaxy. The story follows a British space smuggler, Kyne Dibasi, and his crew as they are to complete one last job from their employer, after which they will finally clear their debts and be free to fly on their own. Their final mission: to track down a woman named Cuaras and to bring her and the "stolen" cargo she carries back to their employer. However, not is all as it seems, for her "stolen" cargo is the very crystal that destroyed life on Earth 4000 years ago, and an old nemesis of Kyne is also after the stone. The forces of the governing Coalition of Nations also bear down on Kyne and Cuaras, as they form a reluctant alliance to keep the Cryst from falling into the wrong hands.

THEMES:
An exploration of choices and personal history set in a fantastical realm, reflecting the idea that you always have a choice no matter how dark the situation and that you can only bury the past for so long; it’s a real thing that lives with you every day.

HISTORY OF THE PROJECT:
Bred from a love of sci-fi and fantasy, it draws its inspiration from sources like Firefly/Serenity and the Final Fantasy series. This film was first conceived in a 30-page script for an advanced scriptwriting class over a year ago (fall 2009). Since then it has been transformed into a feature-length film and has thus drawn the attention of our peers, most of which who are wishing us the best of luck.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
With your help we can raise funds to build our 4 sets, pay for costuming and props, catering for our cast and crew, renting equipment and locations, producing promotional materials, and much more. All the rewards promised in the right hand column will be delivered after the film is finished and/or as they are made available (more toward the end of production in the spring).

Also, please, note that as we have already begun production, we have already been funding this with our own, limited means. We need more than $3000 to make this film a complete success, but as Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing fundraising opportunity, we set our sights low to hopefully at least make that much in order to not personally go into debt! We hope that you will continue to fund our project even if/after our goal is met within our 40-day goal. We hope to raise above $5000 or more, so, please, back our project. We are passionate about this project, and plan to see it through to the end no matter what.
