Sad that the main feature I was looking for (the kickstand) can't support the weight of my phone! The smallest screwdriver is also VERY difficult to use. Good first run, but room for improvement.
Creator Nicholas Diak on April 21
I've had nothing but a good experience with my pocket monkey. Great project.
Creator Daver on April 15
Well, it is somewhat nifty looking, but over all... lame. Nice and strong though!
The kickstand is completely worthless. The Phillips driver did not work on two separate occasions. The letter opener makes a mess. Oh well.
Creator Jeremy C. on April 14
Just want to say I love my Pocket Monkey! I find myself using all the time for it's may uses! Thanks again!
Creator Joe Yontz on April 11
No problems with TSA flying out off Baltimore MD and McAllen TX!
Creator Marina Vaerst on April 11
I still haven't received mine!! I thought they were going out at the end of January!?
Creator Vihang Mehta on April 4
Still haven't received my pocket monkey in San Francisco, CA. A few other friends of mine did get theirs. :(
Creator Jacob Tothe on March 31
Finally had a chance to really test out the bottle opener feature. It worked fine, no damage to the tool. Chicks dig its style too.
Creator Wong Kum Yew on March 31
Just back from an overseas trip. The local airport had no questions. The foreign airport singled out the Pocket Monkey for a thorough check on sharp edges and passed without further questions. :)
Single most used function for me - letter opener.
It's effectiveness as a phone stand seems to depend on the rigidity of the card used. Most cards work fine.
Creator Jason Chong on March 25
Hey Nate, it arrived this morning in Singapore. Thanks! Looks and feels great. (except for some scratches on the back but no worries)
Creator Nate Barr on March 25
@Jess Zimbabwe Yours should have arrived a while ago. I looked in our database and found your address with "Shipping Address2": "n/a but required to submit form", so I'm guessing it didn't make it to you and USPS is just being really slow to return it to sender. Is that address correct? I can resend.
Creator Jeremy C. on March 25
Thanks for the feedback Daniel!
Creator Daniel Lieber on March 24
I've taken my Pocket Monkey through airport security (and other security inspections) successfully on several trips now and have found it very useful. This week, I was able to use it onboard the plane to repair my watch. It was very cool to get that done successfully at 30,000 feet with the only tool being the Monkey.
Thus far, I am very impressed.
Creator Fabian on March 23
Just got mine today!
Woot!
Passed through hotel security and other stuff. Yet to see if I can fly with it!
In India here.
Creator wallyphotography on March 22
Great product !
Creator Philip Scott on March 22
Gold Coast, Australia. Got an email ~10 days ago with the tracking number and just received my Pocket Monkey today; looks awesome! Thanks for a great product, but in the future, more communication is imperative.
Creator Jeremy C. on March 22
Anyone here go through an airport with this yet? Any issues?
Creator Jeremy C. on March 21
Melbourne Australia here, got mine in the mail today! Thanks for following through on your commitment Nate! Good to hear you are catching up on messaging people back as well. I understand that life can get in the way but with Kickstarter communication is key, even letting people know that life is getting in the way and you will get to responding to people in time would have been appreciated! Thanks for a great product!
Creator Jess Zimbabwe on March 21
Have all domestic orders shipped? Still waiting on mine in DC...thanks.
Creator Craig Mason on March 20
Got mine & it's quality! :-)
Creator Finn Macleod on March 20
Took a very, very long time to arrive....
Its bloody awesome though! Definitely worth the wait.
Creator Nate Barr on March 19
Phew! Finally catching my breath here! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for your great encouragement posted here. Sorry for the lack of communication. I've been totally swamped with my day job which had a project I championed green-lit just as fulfillment hit full stride (I'm a little too ambitious for my own good sometimes). I also burned through the goodwill of my friends for packing help early on ;) We've shipped nearly 3,000 orders now! Woohoo! All Kickstarter orders have been shipped and there are a few early backers whose monkeys apparently ran off to join the circus while enroute, which we have also resolved. If you have not received yours from the International Backer group, it will most likely arrive within the next week. I have also caught up on emails. I spent 20 hours over the last two weeks to finally conquer the inbox! For those who are curious, the manufacturer also found that the laser etching was an unexpected bottleneck. They were only able to process 10 to 20 per hour! I'll post an update soon with some more info about PocketMonkey recent news!
Creator Tony Howland on March 19
Got mine today :) Many thanks from the UK! :) I'm sure everyone will get theirs, just bear in mind that international post isn't the fastest and not down to Pocket Monkey!
Creator Ove Kristensen on March 19
Got mine today in Oslo, Norway. Thanks, looks great!
Creator Jeremy C. on March 19
@Shane, I don't think you understand how kickstarter works. This is not a store. You are paying for someone to have an idea and then follow through with that idea.
Creator Grant Paul on March 18
Got mine! Thanks Nate!
Creator Shane Felgate on March 14
I SAID THIS 2 MONTH AGO WITH NO RESPONSE
hey im having trouble making this work as an iphone stand
the card bends when I place my iphone on it and it falls to a flat angle if i touch the iPhone
I would like my money back
Creator Dan Chubaty on March 12
got an email with tracking information tonight.
Was a nice surprise because I had pretty much forgotten about this one!
Creator Jackarseboyz on March 12
Just got an email alerting me that it has been sent via First Class International air mail :)
Creator Terry Herbert on March 11
Got mine, now very happy. Hope fellow kickstarters get theirs soon.
Yay Nate, you came through with my pocket monkey.
Creator Stephen Kong on March 10
Got mine. Looking great. Great work!!
Creator Michael on March 9
Munich still waiting :(
Creator Darren Cooper on March 5
Expected delivery December now March. Very poor!
Creator Björn Zinkler on March 4
Hi Nate, my Pocket Monkey has finally arrived here in Germany. :-) Thank you for this great tool and keep going!
Creator Colin Ho on March 4
Still waiting. International backer. How's everything going?
Creator Jeremy C. on March 4
I also think there needs to be a rating system for us backers on creators, so if they do another project other people know what to expect.
Creator Jeremy C. on March 3
Not defunct, he made a product that 1921 people backed. When he had updates, he made them. Last update is his stuff is shipping and product was made and he tricked his friends into helping him package them.
He is just shitty at kickstarter and reassuring people that all is good.
I would like to see part of kickstarter where there is a communication fulfillment for the creator and how much they plan on being involved with the people backing them. That way when there are d-bags like this, we are not all pissed off.
Creator Jess Zimbabwe on March 3
Are we assuming this project is defunct?
Creator Yaron Golan on March 3
I completely understand that. However, from a consumer-protection perspective, would that not be something that should be changed?
Creator SuperD - Seattle Sonic - Obsidian Order on March 2
Read the terms of service, KS has no duty to go after KS when they fail to meet goals or fail to communicate. Essentially it is up to the person to decide.
Creator Yaron Golan on March 2
I'm fine with investing in KickStarter, I'm even fine with losing my money. What I'm not fine with is lack of accountability and communication, both exhibited in this specific project by its owner.
1. Should KickStarter intervene in these types of situations, when the project owner just disappears and stops responding?
2. Should the community have some type of legal action available to it?
Creator Peter Harrison on March 1
In the U.K we get charged for anything with a value over £15 (about $22 at the moment but not back in December 2012). Shipping is excluded so can be anything. I backed this project for two pocket monkeys so total of $24 + $3 for shipping. I've been charged £11.02 ($16.67) by UK customs so these small margins matter.
Creator D Morgan on February 28
I'm guessing the second run of pocketmonkeys / international backer must be out for delivery soon ? remember not to overestimate the value of the pocketmonkey on the customs form as that may increase charges this end, and send mine via the least fancy cheapest shipping method I think in the UK that means the post goes by sea freight taking upto a month, im not worried about how fast delivery is, as long as it gets here. though I guess with a well but lightly packaged pocket monkey it might not cost much more via a united states postal service airmail equivalent, if packaged in a simple thin durable card envelope the size of the pocketmonkey ?
Creator William Gutscher on February 28
@ ALL UBERBACKERS....did anyone receive their PM yet? if so did you get the t-shirts with?
i received only the PM and NO T-shirts.....WT??
Creator Suresh Shanmugham on February 28
Are the Pocket Monkeys approved by the TSA to take on planes?
Creator Peter Harrison on February 27
I've just received a customs charge of £11.02 ($16.65) for my pocket monkeys!!!! Nate what did you put on the shipping form? Not happy!
Creator Jeremy C. on February 27
Has the "INTERNATIONAL BACKER" pledge shipped yet?
Creator Raymond on February 26
I received my pocket monkey today.
Just like what it describe. Thin, lightweight and excellent tool.
