1. Who are we?

Best Part Productions is a Nashville based creative team lead by brothers, Chad and Trey McClarnon. This all started back in 2010 when Chad had a string of photography shows around Nashville. Over the course of those nine months, he realized the immense amount of talented family and friends that were gathering together every month for his photo shows. He soon grew weary of showing art TO this talented group, and was overwhelmed with a desire to make art WITH them. After many late nights planning and scheming, Best Part Productions was born. Production on our first short film, "A New Life" started soon after, and we haven't looked back since.  

2. The Films

This is our first short film, "A New Life", and is based on a recurring dream that Chad kept having. It's the story of a young reluctant artist stuck in a job that he hates. He is newly married to a strong, supportive, and successful young woman. Having just purchased their first house the artist is struggling to find time to help his wife set things up at home; fretting over decisions and situations that may be more important than he thinks.

"without" was originally part of the 2011 Nashville 48 Hour Film Project which is a fun festival where you write, shoot, edit and master a film in 48 hours.  Since that time, this film has been completely recut and remastered to give it the time and attention that just is not possible during 48 hours.  This is the story of Laura, a young woman distracted at work from an unresolved fight with her lover, is late for an important staff meeting that appears to have ended abruptly. She soon discovers that she is alone in the building without explanation.

3.  Where does the money go?

If this project is successful, the funds will be used to pay the materials cost, submission fees, and shipping charges required to submit both of these films to the 30 plus film festivals that we have targeted. If selected into these festivals, portions of your contributions will go towards offsetting the cost of generating final exhibition prints for theatrical screenings. 

These films would not exist without the tireless hard work of the immensely talented members of the Best Part Productions team who continue to volunteer their time and energy into making films like these exist. Kickstarter provides an incredible opportunity to band together again, and bring some new faces on board to support these projects.

4.  How it works?

Kickstarter is completely an all or nothing thing! We will not receive any donations unless our goal is reached even if we are short by only a few dollars. We have tried to set a reasonable goal that will allow us to submit to a variety of festivals; however, if we exceed our goal it will allow us to push these projects to more and more places to share these stories with as many people as possible.  

We are extremely proud of these projects. We made these films because we want to tell these stories on the biggest stage possible. Be sure to check back here over the next five weeks because we will be providing a variety of updates including behind the scenes footage, information about the projects and the Best Part team. We also have a couple of backer-only surprises in the works. Thank you for your support and helping us get these stories to you.
