Hera Gallery needs to renovate our new space in order to bring our summer exhibitions to fruition!
Hera heats up with summer art!
As one of the original Women's Cooperative Galleries in the United States we have successfully continued our mission to bring unique arts programming to our rural community in southern Rhode Island for 38 years. Hera Gallery is pleased to announce that after being displaced from our Main Street gallery, Hera will be once again calling Downtown Wakefield, Rhode Island home!
Within the past few weeks, Hera has begun to move into our new space located at 10 High Street. Our new office space needs to be renovated to become a gallery space. In order to present our summer exhibition series beginning with work by Myron Rubenstein and Barbara Pagh we need to install LED track lighting, signage and other improvements to make the space Hera Gallery. This one time cost will not only allow these exhibitions to take place but will help us continue to bring challenging artwork, exhibitions, and events to southern Rhode Island.

Artists Statement
All of my work in some way relates to a mind-blending and the intertwining of fragmented synapses.
Unresolved cortex of flashing thoughts of fantasy unknown to us but revealed in our artwork.
It is a reality that we only have in our subconscious that needs to come forth or else.
People in transformation of many faces, sliding into various places confined in questions, with no answers by a grated mind of lost signatures, seeing infinite human traces.
Detecting human sounds and constant rants, directing art to make sense of my senses and a sense of my time.

Barbara Pagh

Artists Statement
There are several themes that have appeared consistently in my work over the past 20 years that often diverge and intersect at various points. The most dominant theme has been landscape or the natural world including the American Southwest, coastal Rhode Island and the Scottish Highlands. There is no attempt to create a realistic representation of place, but a subjective impression based on found and constructed symbols, structure and color and resulting in a layering of texture and form. Handmade paper is made specifically for each series with varying size, color and texture. The computer is used to alter the photographic images and photolithography allows for the images to be printed in different colors and in different combinations.

Why Kickstarter?
Your contribution to the gallery will make these exhibitions possible. The funds will go to hiring an electrician, track lighting, LED bulbs, signage, and paint. The basics needed to allow us to showcase our artists and visiting artists.
Why is this Important?
Being located in rural Rhode Island, our goal is to bring to our community visual arts programming including presentations, lectures and readings that residents would not normally be exposed to. Thank you for extending your support to Hera during our time of significant change!
What if we reach over $3,000?
We'll be able to continue events like these....
