The Raised Bed Project at Buttercup Farms Garden is a part of Buttercup Farms, a Clayton, California non-profit dedicated to helping people help themselves.

We have three goals at the garden:

•   To establish a thriving organic garden that will be a model for environmentally sound food production and water usage
• To begin a Community Supported Agriculture business (CSA) for the sale of our produce.
• To use our garden to teach adults an children about nature, horticulture and where their food comes from.

We need donations for our raised-bed project. We have built a half-acre of raised beds at the garden and need to buy materials -primarily redwood 2 x12s -to build the last half-acre of beds. The raised beds have both a practical and an aesthetic purpose. They are an essential part of our CSA and vegetable production with their long-lasting redwood sides and wire mesh bottoms that give much-needed protection  against gophers. But they also give a clean, organized look to the garden that is helpful in our mission to teach people in the community the value of organic food production in an aesthetically-pleasing environment.

Gary Crandall  our head gardener and David Norris his helpful assistant will be working on this project.
