Kickstarter

I am creating a sculpture that recycles materials that are found in abandoned buildings. By reusing these found objects I am rebuilding a part of the city to symbolize the need for the revitalization of these neighborhoods. I am playing off the brick of the city and the history of urban architecture by constructing a 9 x 6 x 6 foot brick egg. The brick will represent urban brick construction and the egg form will symbolize the recycling or rebirth of the urban environment. My Urban Egg Project will look as if the life growing within will one day hatch and provide the energy to rejuvenate the city. The placement of the egg is key to the project. I will place the massive brick sculpture in a lobby gallery in center city Philadelphia on Broad Street. The egg will take up a large amount of the space making it look much larger and imposing as people enter and exit the building. The space will also double as an incubator. As if the building itself is protecting the egg and keeping it warm for the day in which it will hatch and the spirit of revitalization will be released and rebirth a new improved urban environment.

The fund raised through Kickstarters will pay for materials needed to complete the project and pay for moving expenses to place the egg into a gallery in center Philadelphia. My studio is in central Pennsylvania, moving the brick egg will require renting special cargo vehicles and lifts to install the sculpture into the gallery. Please help me make "The Urban Project" into a reality.
