Trapped in the same house for three days, a woman and her young lodger begin an affair that ends in a tragedy.
To bring life to this innovative and exciting film, we need your help. We have gathered a top notch crew, and an amazing cast, but now we are asking you to assist us with the difficult task of funding this project. Every dollar donated will go toward equipment rental, salary for the cast and crew, and post production costs (color correction/sound/editing) to make this film exactly what it should be: AMAZING!
Please take a moment to look over our project and watch our trailer. Every dollar donated will make a huge difference to the quality of this film and we are greatly appreciative for any amount that you are able to donate. It is important to know that if our goal is not met, then we do not get anything. You will not be charged until we (hopefully) succeed!
To give you an idea of our artistic inspiration for the project please take a look at our Artistic Synopsis:
In Phyllis, we are exploring the interplay between the psychological horror genre and the psychological drama. The set up is a remote, isolated but modern house in the country on the brink of spring. Like in Claude Chabrol's "The Flower of Evil", the soft surroundings conceal a distressed reality. The film takes place mostly at night, with hardly any lights on. The cool emergency light and the monochromatic night, versus the vivid daylight blossom colors, intensify the arc of the story and the foundation of the characters.
We will frame the interiors of the house, as in the late period of Yasujirō Ozu's films, with a static camera. It is sometimes in front of the characters, looking at the scene with a low angle, concealing the floor and expressing a layered effect. Yet, Phyllis is a dark, psychological drama that flirts with the psychological horror genre. Therefore, the camera will also display a full devotion to and identification with the protagonist, tracking her, eager to reveal her emotional state. The stylized suspense, combined with the realistic description, will hopefully create an interesting angle of storytelling.
