THE NEW SPARTANS: by S. DeHart, Jonny Ledford & Peter Palmiotti

All of us at Ray Gun Monkey Studios endevor to present a product that is unparralleled in the world of comics today. Absolute top rate art and grand story arcs coupled with non stop action is our fair. Bigger better farther faster has been our motto and we would like the chance to bring it to readers on paper. Over the years many ideas for heroes and series have emerged from our studio, but it all began with The New Spartans. We have built our world and stories but it all starts with the first comic. Funds raised will go to financing the publication of  The New Spartans #1, from there the sky is the limit.

The reason we wanted to make books in the first place!

      As a group of creators you will probably never find a group of more similar individuals. The idea for the New Spartans actually started back in the mid 90's with co-creator S.DeHart and myself talking about all our comic influences of the 70's and 80's. We felt that comics were changing, but what we had longed to see and read again were a style of story and pacing that we just didn't see that often or remembered from our past. Our love always fell back to classic style heroes and villains, super avengers and big worlds. The Super Hero genre has changed a lot over the years, we wanted to be a part of that. Reality mixed with classic good guy , bad guy figures. Big environments with bigger repercussions. I think our view of the comic world of empowered heroes will be an enjoyable one for readers. It took a few years but the creative team became complete and we hope that we will finally be able to make The New Spartans and our vision of a super heroic world come to life. So for Shannon DeHart, Peter Palmiotti and myself. We thank everyone that has ever supported and encouraged us! Cheers All!

Here's just a peak of what to expect:

The world is on a the brink of a new era of unity and technology. Worlds drifting together, the golden age of space travel, war heroes and working man alike share a future with bright days, clear skies and free energy. We have new rocket ship technology that enables us to hurl ourselves into the stars. The recession is over, and the world is growing... until.

Through a horrible accident the Mojovani Mili-Tech Global Conglomerate changes the world. A miscalculation devastates both Los Angeles and Japan through a failed joint Klystron project. Free energy, will not be realized. What we get in exchange is a crumbled coast, and mostly submerged Japan. Devastation, chaos, loss of life and something unexpected. In the days that follow the series of natural disasters the explosion creates we begin to notice that for some, they are no longer who they use to be or seem to be. Gifted or cursed the world now is inhabited by both Homo sapiens and now Super humans! The strangelet cascade from the anti-matter in the Klystron streamed out in the atmosphere and spread like a virus to those mentally, genetically and spiritually susceptible. No one really knows how many where changed, but we do know that the reality of human nature became apparent.

At first, there were no heroes in capes, no dark avengers, no sentinels of the atmosphere and knights of the ether. What we got, was chaos incarnate. Absolute power corrupts absolutely! In short order, law enforcement begins being wiped out by legions of virtually unstoppable murderers, thieves and anarchists. Washington DC lies in ruin as madmen and malefactors pull the system to the ground. A bright future becomes a desolate land of crime, corruption, an unknown extra-terrestrial life form crashed in the desert, a war hero turned astronaut lost in space. But suddenly without knowing where or why, help arrives in the form of a marooned stellar protector, who in short order takes a batch of misfit youth, and turns them into a small incorruptible group of steadfast guardians. Help and friendship arrives in other forms. Heroes return home but with cosmic level trouble on their heels.

Out classed and outnumbered our reluctant heroes help out by re-building Los-Angeles and help the government relocate Washington DC to where LA use to be. Starting the dawn of what will now be our nations new Capital. Fused with a flight line and sub-rail line with what is left of Japan. Old Los Angeles becomes the titan megalopolis NEW WASHINGTON! And in the center lies the newly constructed floating fortress "Lacedaemon", where justice now has a home. Young, raw and untested these few, not unlike heroes and protectors of old face unwinnable odds. Like the brave men of Sparta in 480 B.C. before them, where 300 faced hundreds of thousands. These heroes stand as few against millions. Giving them the destiny, right and job of becoming "THE NEW SPARTANS"!!! It is now officially A brave new world!
