Synopsis- Transfusión is a full length documentary film set in Columbus, OH about food, life, immigration, and the exchange of culture in unexpected places. While the west side of the City (the Greater Hilltop Area) struggle to come to terms with how to handle the emergence of taco trucks, a black neighborhood on the East side (the King-Lincoln district) has invited a taco truck into one of the most impoverished areas of Columbus to help revitalize the community. For the City of Columbus the trucks are more than just about food, they're about immigration, race, community acceptance, and the exchange of life in the inner city.
Film Outline: This is a 90-minute feature film, but it is composed of five unique short films. The sum of the parts is greater than the whole, as the shorts build upon one another to create dynamic contrasts between ethnic urban environments and transnational livelihoods.
Prologue: (4 minutes)- The opening to the film introduces the viewer to the general immigration issues of Hispanics in Columbus, Ohio.
Part I: Jucio a un Taco (16 minutes)- Part one of the film explores racial tensions and other urban issues associated with the emergence of taco trucks on West Side of Columbus, Ohio.
Part II: "Whites Only" (20 minutes)- Part two examines urban infrastructure as racial discrimination in the King-Lincoln district of Columbus, OH. Through this visual and narrative exploration, the film interweaves the presence of a Mexican food truck, Los Potosinos, from San Luis Potosi. This segment elucidates how the truck has become a celebrated food establishment in the spatially segregated, black inner-city community.
Part III: Transfusión (30 minutes)- Part three is the climax of the film. We travel to San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and trace immigrant life issues of Lidia, the owner of Los Potosinos. This part of the film explores food-ways and other personal immigration issues for Mexicans in the United States who have left their families behind.
Part IV: ICE (10 minutes)- Part four examines immigration enforcement in Columbus, OH, and how it is affecting business and social interactions throughout the city for taco truck owners and other immigrants.
Epilogue: (10 minutes)- The final part of the film concludes the previous four segments. It shows how Mexican food trucks have become accepted in most parts of the city and ends with Lidia meeting with an immigration lawyer.
The total production cost of this film is $15,000. We have already spent $5,000 in travel to Ohio and Mexico, as well as the use of professional video and sound equipment. Your donation may help to offset some of our past costs if we pass our goal, but more importantly, your donation will help us complete this project efficiently and professionally over the next two months. To keep the arrangements succinct and tight, he will be performing the music in duet (guitar + resonator/ guitar+violin / mandolin+violin / guitar + melodica, etc.) Playing in this duet way requires distilling the musical idioms to their essence: their plaintive but distinct chord structures and rhythms... which should keep them from becoming complicated and distracting from the film content.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
This is not my first film as a director, producer or editor, and I am also working/collaborating on other film projects, documentary and narrative. In addition, the entire film has been shot, thus I don't expect any major problems now in the post-production of the film. However, there may be possible delays with syncing the music to the film and scheduling time to work with a professional sound mixer. This process is often very time consuming and efficiency depends on how well the musician, director, and sound mixer are in sync. But we will communicate with all of our backers immediately should we run into any major delays or any other unexpected delays during this process.
