Connected as Kelly Maguire (443 friends)
We're Katherine and Kelly. We make websites and game hard, and really could use some more exercise. We share office space in General Assembly, a coworking space in midtown.
Should I have gotten a closed beta invitation already? :)
Hi Brian,
We're aiming to open the closed beta up this week. We've been pretty head-down in code, so we haven't had a lot of backer updates, sorry about that!
When will the closed beta invatations be sent out?
I've been thinking that something like this would help me for a while now, never got the time together to actually create one. I could totally see something like this expanded to other sides of life if the exercise part works out. Like, I'm terrible at getting up in the morning, but if I had incentive to get out of bed, turn the computer on, knock out a few pushups or something, go to a website and do something BEFORE A CERTAIN TIME, by the time I did that I'd be awake enough to not go back to sleep.
Anybody want to join up to train for the Warrior Dash - http://www.warriordash.com/register2011_new_york.php I did it alone last year, it would be much more fun to go with a group.
I exercise and I like games, so my participation makes sense.
Really happy for you guys! And I'm excited to get started with this! Any idea when more will be posted for the closed beta? Can't wait! =)
congratulations ladies!
Congrats! :)
Congratulations on meeting your funding goal! I hope you are wildly successful and I cannot wait to start training so I can survive the zombie apocalypse.
Congrats!
Yes, we plan on supporting as many different types of exercises as possible. You may not see everything in the main storyline, but any exercise you do will count towards your score whether or not it's one of the "suggested" workouts or not.
Will different stuff like Dead-lifts Squatz and so on count in the game?
Awesome, thanks Alexander!
Good Luck! I just upped my pledge, I really want to see you guys make this!!
Thanks Bryy!
Just sent you guys a couple bucks. Finances are tight right now, but always time to help out a fellow dev(s).
What a great idea! I've done some of the other exercise/chore games, but you're right that the "game" part is usually quite lame and uninteresting.
+1 for Blackberry!
Thanks!
We'll definitely be on both iPhone and Android, and hopefully webOS and Blackberry as well! We want to make it easy to play from anywhere, so supporting a wide range of platforms is a big part of that. We're even thinking about ways to play via text message, so even when you're without internet you can keep up with your workouts.
Correction Rock Paper shotgun (I read both at the same time all the time)
I hopped on as backer after I read up on it 2 days ago at PCGamer specifically because I had wanted to get EpicWin and then found out it was iPhone only (dont have one). I'm excited about this because it takes that concept but a step further (specifically focused on fitness and adding a friendly competition within a group) and makes it also available to all kinds of people. Jazzed about there being a mobile app (android compatible, please) being linked to the browser version.
What a cool concept! I always mean to go to the gym, but I have so much trouble being motivated to.. it always ends up being the last thing on my list. Turning it into an actual *game*.. (and a game I don't have to spend a ton of money for extra equipment like the wii fit) is a *brilliant* idea. So excited for the beta!
Thanks Cindy! A mobile app is right behind the browser version, and everything will be interoperable so you can take the game with you wherever you go.
This is an excellent idea! I've long wanted location-based social apps to actually go the distance and build in real game play, beyond badges and such. So happy that you were inspired by KoL - one of my favorites!
