About this project

I am Billy Wall, a songwriter recording artist, in California. I have been playing and writing music since my early teens. Like many, I was inspired to learn guitar and spent years honing my skills. I also play keyboards. I've been in a few bands, but I realized early on that my thing was writing the songs and recording them to get them to sound the way I want them to sound.

When a new song comes to me, I love having the song flow out on its own---I still have no idea where they come from. It’s as big a mystery to me as it is to everyone else. And it is the best feeling in the world! And I want to share it with the world.

Once I have a new song, I start to hear it with all the parts developed (usually), and then it is time to get it recorded.  So, I've been working at getting my songs recorded for some time now. It is only in the past ten years or so that technology has allowed any motivated creative individual to affordably record their own work, ...and have it sound good. And what a boon that has been!

I do everything on my recordings---from writing the song to playing and singing all the parts----so, it is a lot of work, and takes a long time. My first two albums took five years ... each!

I'm proceeding a little faster with this third album. I have about three and a half songs completed after only seven months. If I can stay to that schedule, the third album will be completed, roughly at the end of 2012.

My two already completed CDs have never been duplicated in any reasonable quantities. It is expensive, so only a limited number of the first album were made (by me, one at a time….yes, it is tedious). And the second album I was able to have 100 made commercially, but, still, not exactly enough to cover worldwide demand (hey, …it could happen). And, soon, my third CD will need to be duplicated also. Perhaps between this KickStarter campaign and your help, there will be worldwide demand!

I do not perform live gigs, so I need to have my CDs duplicated in order to be able to increase the number of people able to hear my music, and to promote that music.

And I need to upgrade my equipment so that I can be more productive. It only stands to reason---if I can do things better, it will be easier to get more done. And it’s all about the music, and being able to share it with everyone.

In a nutshell, the project gives me the means to finish my current album, as well as duplicate and promote all the albums.

The $10,000 budget breaks down roughly as follows;
$1500 - duplicate my first CD - Something Real
$1500 - duplicate my second CD - Singing Another Tune
$1500 - duplicate my third CD - as yet unnamed
$4000 - Equipment upgrades - microphones, preamps, recording software
$1500 - for general expenses related to the above, such as shipping costs, packaging, "the unexpected", cables, and miscellaneous gear.

Any funds over and above my goal will go toward more music, of course. And no doubt speed up the delivery of this third album and future albums. And there will definitely be future albums. I have many more songs yet to record, ... and many more yet to write!
