-What is Xerum: Tears of the Children:

Xerum: Tears of the Children is a terrifying and suspenseful single-player psychological horror adventure game like no other. Set in the mysterious and forgotten Nazi Germany territory known as New Swabia, Antarctica, you will uncover the truths behind many WWII conspiracy theories and discover advance Nazi technology not from this world.

Your goal is to explore the vast landscape of New Swabia, Antarctica both on the surface and underground to uncover the truth behind the Nazi secret military base and discover the truth behind New Swabia. The world of Xerum: Tears of the Children takes place on the cold and icy desert Antarctic territory of New Swabia. New Swabia was the only territory claimed by the Nazis during WWII. Why?

Why not any other territory on Antarctica? Did the Nazis also use New Swabia as a secret weapons test site for wonder weapons such as Die Glocke “The Bell”? Did the Nazis use Xerum 525 the highly radioactive superconductor mercury-like plasma for other experiments and projects other than the Bell? Did the Nazis discover a physical link to the theorized Hollow Earth city of Agartha and the lost Nephilim race of Giants? How were the Nazis capable of developing such vast technologically advanced weapons after having claimed New Swabia in 1939? And why after WWII did the Allies and the rest of world place a ban on military presence and activity on Antarctica?

While en route to the U.S. McMurdo Research Station on Ross Island, Antarctica the USS Richard E. Byrd receives a distress call transmitted in German. The signal is pinpointed to be coming from a small section on Queen Maud Land, Antarctica formerly known as New Swabia, the former Nazi Germany Antarctic territory. Not since WWII has any nation set foot on the icy lands of New Swabia. The area over the former Nazi Germany territory has been deemed a No-Fly Zone since the early 1950s. Due to the nature of this distress call a special black ops officer is sent in to investigate the signal. Lieutenant Adam Specter, a United States Navy SEAL officer with an outstanding service record stands above the rest and is handpicked for this top-secret mission.

-Why Kickstarter:

We've been working on Xerum: Tears of the Children in our free time ever since we graduated from our respected game design schools. We’ve always wanted to make a game that not only expresses our creative minds and storytelling methods, but also to make a game that people will enjoy. We fully support independent game development and love having the freedom to design and create a game based on our own experiences.

The benefits of us developing a game like Xerum: Tears of the Children is:

1.     We can work on a game we are most proud of and passionate about.

2.     Go beyond the limits of our artistic and creative design minds.

3.     Have the freedom to make a game that is not only fun for gamers but also memorable.

4.     Give everyone a finer taste of independent game development and storytelling.

5.     We can create an AAA game at a low industry price for everyone to enjoy!

Since production began our artists and designers have been hard at work with the game’s core gameplay design, level design, visual scripting, audio, concept art, environment art, story, dialogues, and character design. Our fist level is nearly complete and we are working hard to get a playable Beta out before the end of the year.

We’re using Kickstarter to be able to fund the next stage of development. We want to complete the remaining levels and environments. We’ll use Backer donations for:

  • Single-Player: We want to build a single-player experience like no other. The world of Xerum: Tears of the Children is vast and filled with enrich environments and areas to explore. We want to provide you with an experience that is enjoyable, memorable, and will scare the living daylights out of you. You’ll jump out of your skin!
  • Music & Audio: We have an experienced one-man audio team that is developing and creating his own unique and original soundtrack. We want to give you an original soundtrack filled with creepy and eerie atmospheric tracks that you’ll stop and listen to while you play. An original soundtrack that will take you back to the Golden Ages of Survival-Horror games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Our composer is hard at work to create original audio tracks and ambient noises for the game.
  • Polish: When our goal is reached, we will spend every waking hour of the day to polish, polish, and polish the game!
  • Website & Merchandise: We want to build a website that fully supports our fans and supporters with forums, live chats with the development team, podcasts for updates and news about the game, and give you the opportunity to purchase official t-shirts and posters.

Kickstarter is an amazing community because it allows us to have a direct relationship with you. We don’t have the demands of a high profile publisher backing our game. We have only you and only you have the power! With your support you will not only help us achieve our dream of developing and releasing a game we always wanted to build, but also receive a fully independent game of epic proportions!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

The risks to developing a game like this are overcoming the zero stability that comes with developing independent games, keeping the team motivated and passionate with little or no money coming in, and devoting all of our time to this project even if the end product doesn't bring in a living. Our challenges to a game project such as this are finishing the project on-time for our fans and community, creating a name for ourselves within the industry, getting the project recognized by the community, and keeping everyone up to date on the project and progress of development.

We are qualified to overcome all of this because of our overwhelming passion for developing games, creating worlds and stories that open people up to new concepts, and combining our experience in developing independent games.
