I'm going to record a new solo record that blends Jazz and Tango musics. This will be my first release including original compositions

Hi there.  I'm Mark Lowrey.  I play piano and have for a little while.  It's kind of my favorite thing.  I mostly play jazz music, but am influenced by lots of different music.

Some years ago, I was able to join a group called Tango Lorca.  We played Argentine tango music by composers like Astor Piazolla, Osvaldo Pugliese, Brad Cox and many others.  Eventually we got to play at the Argentine Consulate in NY, where we took 2nd in an international chamber music contest.

This music is so beautiful to me.  It has changed the way I improvise in jazz music.  What I want is to record an album that is a representation of my love for American jazz and Passion for Argentine tango.  The working title is 18th Street Tangos.  18th street is a very culturally significant stretch of the city, from the art galleries in the crossroads to the 18th and Vine jazz district.  (let's not forget Aurthur Bryant's BBQ on 18th and Brooklyn)  It is one of my favorite streets in the world. (ok, Las Ramblas in Barcelona isn't bad either)

My first solo piano CD was recorded live at Jardines Jazz club in Kansas City, and the ticket sales for the event helped cover post production costs.  The project I'm working on now will be a studio album, so I've started this kickstarter as a means of getting it off the ground with allowing pre-orders and other incentives for support.  Thanks for your consideration!

Cheers,

Mark Lowrey
