Hello there! Opal Zine started as a spark of creative energy from deep in the brain... my brain, your brain, their brains, our brains. The jolts were sent out into the air and they've been chillin' around a certain wavelength for some time. The goal is to recapture those jolts of creative electricity and compile them in a totally awesome zine! You are invited and encouraged to participate.

The introductory, dream-themed issue of Opal Zine was pretty rad. I've left copies in a variety of cool bookstores and coffee shops all over the Bay Area from San Francisco to Berkeley to Oakland. I'm saving a stack for the SF Zine Festival in September.

Now, the time has come to prepare for Issue 02! My mind is racing with ideas for this issue. The theme is "youth and girlhood" and it's going to be one tantalizing affair. Opal Zine is already attracting prominent artists like internationally acclaimed photographer Eleanor Bennett who will be featured and interviewed for this coming issue. 

I need to raise $100 to cover the cost of scanning, printing, and binding 100 copies of this issue. The zine is assembled by hand in cut-and-paste fashion, then the pages are scanned to a file in high resolution, the cover page is printed in color and the inside pages in black & white; the quarter-sized zine is then folded and stapled twice at the center. 

This public art project becomes more beautiful with each contribution - creative or monetary. Please take part, thank you!
