I was involved with an internet radio station that played/promoted strictly independent musical artists. Many of these artists finanaced their CD production (studio time,editing, initial pressing) through the advent of pre-sale of their CD and album download. Have you considered this option? Pre-sell 1000 DVDs at $29.95 and you have $29,950.00. You can offer an incentive by offering the first 500 autographed with a personal dedication, second 500 autographed only, and toss in some of the incentices used in the pledge drive with all. Offer the download for 19,95 and you effectively negate all the costs of producing a physical DVD for those sales. There is also no reason you coulsn't run another fund drive concurrently with pre-sales. This could all be done from your Website/blog. With paypal it is easy to set up a donation and sales link on your page.
