Hi All,

We're less than 24-hours away from the end of our kickstarter campaign.  Thanks so much to everyone for supporting the book.  I hope you'll enjoy the book!

I wanted to point your attention to another comics-based kickstarter project that is really amazing.  The Projects is a comics art festival in Portland.  This festival is not for selling comics but for celebrating comics as an artform.  There are really great artists involved.  Please check it out and help spread the word.

We recently added two pieces to the book. One is a comic by Ryan Andrews and one is an essay by cartoonist/critic Derik Badman.

Derik Badman is an artist and critic whose writing has been featured on The Hooded Utilitarian among various outlets for comics criticism. His work as an artist has been featured in the Abstract Comics anthology, and all of the above can be found on here.

Ryan Andrews is probably best known for his comic Nothing is Forgotten and his recent successful kickstarter to publish a collection of stories of the same name.

Katie Skelly is best know for her book Nurse Nurse and her contributions to the Thickness anthology.  Here is a preview of her comic for SP7.  Click here to read the whole story! 

So, over the weekend we reached our funding goal of $5000!!  What does this mean? Well, the printing & shipping bill is covered!! That means we'll have 1000 copies of SP7 printed and ready to sell.  We'll be debuting the book at SPX in September!!

What will you do with the over-funding??

That is a good question!  All over funding will go directly to a page-rate for the artists involved.  Example: if we raise an extra $5000 each artist involved will be PAID $35 per page contributed!!  

$35 bucks a page actually is a shitty page rate!

Sure is! It would be great if we raised an extra $28,000! That way we could pay the artists $200 a page, but that's unlikely to happen.

So, what are you gonna do to make it up to the artists if you don't make $28,000 extra dollars?

We plan on doling out HEALTHY amounts contributor copies to the artists to sell at conventions and on their websites.

Will I be able to buy this book at comic shops?

Only the best comic shops ;)  Some comic shops have contributed via the RETAILER REWARDS and that is a major help! But, if a shop misses the kickstarter we'll have a FEW copies, post-kickstarter that will be available for comic shops but we wont be able to provide the sweet, riso-printed & signed promotional poster

Can we see another preview of a work in progress? Maybe something by James "Purely Sexy" Harvey?
