Update #7: IT'S OVER

Posted on January 15, 2010

The final tally is: $3,279

wow, above and beyond. Definitely, enough cash to fund Everything Dies #1 and #2 most of #3. Thanks again so much to everyone who donated. You can consider yourselves patrons of the arts, which is a pretty good thing in the eyes of God (so I've heard*)

*or perhaps made up.

Update #5: Ray Frenden to Design Title Lettering for Everything Dies!

Posted on December 22, 2009

The artist

Ray Frenden, insanely talented illustrator and staunch anti-specwork advocate has agreed to design the title lettering for Everything Dies.  The original lettering from the front covers was a blambot font and while I liked the look of it, it wasn't very original.  I've tried my hand at handlettering titles (even own a number of books on the subject) and I probably could've done a suitable job.  But, come on, this is Ray Frenden!  Look at his hand-lettering:

Very excited to have Ray on board!

Update #4: 2 New Stories

Posted on December 7, 2009

Since the last post, I've started work on some new stories:

'Nother Hear of Stonework story.  It's 3 pages and it's totally done.  I've given the two guys names.  The old one's name is "Master" and the young guy's name is "Pupil."

"Omega" is a companion piece to "Alpha" from Everything Dies #1.  It's about common myths about the end of the world.  I started off with the Mormon apocalypse.

Update #3: Evolution of a Panel

Rough panel

Clearly those are a bunch of flaming q-tips.  No, no it's actually a bunch of pigeons on stakes on fire!

Penciled and inked

As you can see the flaming pigeons are totally on stakes and on fire.  You thought I was lying, but clearly I wasn't.  But, something was missing.  There were supposed to be words in this panel! D'oh!

Extra-words

I added in the extra words on the side.  And, put them in through the magic of Photoshop!

Finished Panel!

Update #2: Everything Dies #2 begins production!

Posted on November 29, 2009

The below image comes from the second (and final) part of the Book of Job story which you'll see in Everything Dies #2. I am about 4 pages into the story at this point it will end up being 12 pages in length. I am glad to be back after our little Thanksgiving holiday. I start to get ants in my pants after a few days away from my drawing board.

Update #1: I think we've got a cover!

Posted on November 24, 2009

A cover design that I like. It's based on this awesome Seth print that I have hanging up above my desk.

Thanks to Kevin Church for blogging about it! And, Fleen for the update too.
