About this project
My name is Margel Overton and I have been teaching with EducationWorks and performing with students in the Philadelphia area over the last few years.
EducationWorks is a program that empowers youth through video and music production, performing arts, and entrepreneurship. EducationWorks is a non-profit that enriches the lives of children, youth and families by providing educational programs and services in Philadelphia and New Jersery.
After dealing with budget cut backs in arts programs it has become obvious that the youth need a place to create music on their terms. We will create a CD in the first student run music studio in Philadelphia. This project will be a way for the students to connect with other young artists and with you, the people that are concerned with the lack of outlets for our talented and driven young people.
This group of young musicians includes singers, producers and writers. Their desire is to partner their talents with other students in Philly to create a collaborative, cross genre EP that touches on all of their gifts and musical backgrounds.
Every dollar you give will go into this project. Equipment, Renovations, Mastering expenses, Artwork, Manufacturing the CD's and Vinyl LPs and Promoting the record when it is completed. We will make a quality project in a studio built by the students with your help!
