Update #24: Trash Dance- the movie about The Trash Project!

Posted on March 1

Hello most dearest backers of The Trash Project,

Trash Dance, the movie (yes- you read right, the MOVIE!) about the making of The Trash Project, will premier at SXSW next week! Picture the packed historic  Paramount Theater—full with the stars of the movie, the hardworking city employees who keep our city clean, plus their families and fans of The Trash Project. It is going to be such a party!

I am writing to ask for your support- once again. Filmmaker Andy Garrison is raising money to finish Trash Dance on Kickstarter. He has only 8 DAYS to reach his goal. Any donation will help. You know how it goes. Art is this country gets made because ordinary people want it to get made. So support a very hardworking artist and his team (I saw Andy this morning and again he had been up for more than 24 hours working on the film) and MAKE A DONATION today.

Thank you and much much love,

Allison

Update #21: Didn't get a reservation for the show? Volunteer for The Trash Project!

Posted on August 10, 2011
The Trash Project is sold out BUT we still have seats for Volunteers.

We need smart, capable people to direct parking and usher. Come be a part of this celebration of our city's sanitation workers and get into this free but now entirely sold out show with a confirmed seat!

Shows are August 27th or 28th and the show takes place at the Austin Studios Tarmac, 1901 East 51st Street (Doors at 6:30pm, Show at 7:30pm)

Volunteers arrive at 5:30 (parking volunteers) or 6 (ushers/donation collectors). All volunteers will be reserved a seat, but know that as a volunteer you may be asked to work through the 1st 15/20 minutes of the show.  We also need volunteers for clean- up after the show on Sunday the 28th.

For more info or to sign up, email Rebekah at rebekah.mata@yahoo.com

Defying easy description, Orr's work challenges audiences to expand notions of dance and performer. Orr finds the raw material for her work among the stories and everyday experiences of ordinary people, spending months researching and immersing herself in the community she is engaging.
