UPDATE: 11/28/11

You all blow me away.  In 72 hours, we have raised over 2 and a half times the amount I originally set!!!  Every time I check the page it seems like there's a new backer...and for that I am so, so grateful.  THANK YOU so much for spreading the word and supporting me.  I'm recording "Auld Lang Syne" in the studio tomorrow, and I can't wait to share it with all you who pledged $20 and up!

That being said, the ante is being upped once again...and once again, another reward!

 
We're already less than $500 away...so LET'S DO THIS!!!

UPDATE: 11/26/11 (happy birthday to me!): $800 in five hours?!?! SERIOUSLY?!

Oh my goodness.  You guys are amazing.  I am so, so grateful for your pledges and am truly shocked at how quickly we hit the $800 mark (and beyond!).  I'm blown away by all the love and support.  Wow wow wow.

We've got 29 days to go until the end of this project...which means 29 days to raise more support!  And more support means more CDs in cooler packaging!  And even more support means I can hire the fancy-schmancy NYC publicity firm of my dreams to promote the snot out of my new album (that's right, no mucus whatsoever!).  And that means...my career is going to a serious, full-time, real-deal level.

So a new goal and new reward to all you amazing folks:

11/25/11: THE ORIGINAL POST

Why hello there, world...Kim Edwards here.  I'm a singer/songwriter/pianist/ukulele-ist, and I've been pouring my heart/guts/and various other organs into my first full-length, fully-produced album (13 songs, yo!).  I would loooove to share it with you, hence the Kickstarter goal: raise at least $800 to pay for the costs of designing and manufacturing my new album.

Here is the breakdown:

The Backstory: I've been in the studio for a good chunk of 2011...and though it's been a long and tedious process, I believe the final product is going to be beyond worth it!  So much has already been put into this: I have an incredible producer (Randy Adams) who's worked with artists from all over the world; some of the best musicians from around the country have played on the album (including the Knoxville Symphony!); and I even traversed all the way up to NYC for a photo shoot just so the album could have some legit artwork.  There's a lot more I could add, but suffice it to say that I and so many others have worked long and hard on this project...and it should be properly released.

That's Where You Come In: Even though we live in the age of digital downloads, many people (like moi) still enjoy a tangible album, and tangible albums cost moolah.  And so I want to invite you to be a part of the story, MY story...in the chapter where the music, graphic designer (the illustrious Bruce Kite), and CD manufacturer are all in place and the last piece of the puzzle is the said moolah.

And YOU Get Cool Stuff In Return: But don't think I'm going to ask for money and leave you out in the cold!  Hail no!  I've cooked up a list of fun rewards that are unique to the Kickstarter experience.  Limited Edition is the name of the game...because once the Kickstarter project is over, you won't find these puppies on my website or anywhere else.  This will be the only time you can get handwritten lyrics, or a cover song of your choosing, or the mother-of-all-rewards, the Ultimate Wanderlust Kit.  So get in while you can!

If - nay, WHEN - We Meet the Goal: I will do a happy dance and post it for only the backers to see.  This will probably involve me doing the Robot (my specialty).

If We EXCEED the Goal: then I will do a EXCEEDINGLY happy dance (probably involving the Robot, a hoedown move, and the Elaine dance from Seinfeld) and post it for only the backers to see (and laugh hysterically).  More money means more CDs (because I'm thinking that 150 won't last very long!).  And if, by some miracle, we raise waaaay more money, it will allow me to pay for a publicity campaign so the album can go beyond my circle of family and friends and to the ends of the earth.

I Love You: Truly, I do.  Thank you for even reading this page and for your support.  As much as it's challenging to be an independent musician (meaning, no label, no manager, no financial backer...aka broke as a joke), it also allows me to interact very directly with all of you wonderful people...and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of the Kim Edwards story.
