"The Devil's Bitch" is a musical pilot about a handicapped girl who signs her soul over to the Devil for fame, beauty and bigger boobs.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?
"The Devil's Bitch" is a musical TV pilot about a shy, homely, handicapped girl who trades in her wheelchair and soul - to the Devil. Her wildest dreams come true, but in exchange for sexiness and stardom she is forced to commit Satanic deeds - musically.
There's singing. There's murder. Oh. And the Devil… is gay. (You know, to spice things up).
WHO THE HELL AM I?
Hi, I'm Marla. By day you can see me as Sister Mary Robert in the Broadway musical, "Sister Act." By night, my writing partner, Jonathan Parks-Ramage, and I decided to pen a singing pilot for the New York Television Festival competition.
But don't worry. This isn't Glee. This isn't Smash. This is just the opposite.
In fact, watch the first number in our pilot! Click here!
YOU'VE REACHED YOUR GOAL... WHY THE HELL SHOULD I DONATE?
Woo! Ha! As we have been meticulously going through our budget, calculating locations, crew, equipment we've totaled at the VERY LEAST we have to raise $5,500. Ideally raising $7,000 would let us conquer the world!!!
With that in mind, you could donate to be a walk on in our pilot, OR get a backstage tour of Sister Act! Or you could do neither, but just...give me a cool million and a wink!
WHO THE HELL ARE YOU COLLABORATING WITH?
Director, Jake Honig, and producer, Andrew Flynn Soltys, are the next Spielberg and Bruckheimer. Will Van Dyke and New York band, Astoria Boulevard, are writing and arranging the beautiful music. Finally, Jonathan Parks-Ramage and his twisted mind co-wrote the pilot.
GO TO HELL!
No problem. Just give me $5 first?
This all sounds joyously twisted, weird and very interesting, but i am not a big fan of musicals, and do not know that much about them or how they work. So i was wondering where the focus is on the visual front?
I would package this as a showtime, fx, hbo kind of show. It will be gory/violent...in a slightly heightened, campy way. It's a combination of the bizarre world of "True Blood" with the tv movie "Reefer Madness." If those things are not your bag, then this won't be. There obviously is a market for musical shows out there and being a musical theatre person, I wanted to create a really smart, dark comedy that uses music as a vehicle only when it really needs to enhance the story.
The visual look will have to depend on our post production crew - The 5,000 is being allocated between NY permits, locations, director of photography, musical arrangements, etc, etc. I'm hoping we go over our budget so I can spend more on...everything.
The dates of shooting would be Thursday, May 3rd, Sunday, May 6th, Monday May 7th, Tuesday May 8th, and Monday May 14th. I think we need people/extras for most if not all of those days.
