A fresh, soulful, live album from 22-year old songwriter Emily Elbert, recorded with her band in Boston.
Hello Friends,
I'm making a new album! A live album - and nine accompanying, high-quality videos - featuring a band that I'm totally in love with. In August, we got to spend a few days together, playing and recording in our drummer's basement studio in Brookline, Massachusetts. We recorded nine of my original tunes - four of which are brand-new, but all of which have been given an exciting new sense of energy and imagination.
In the past four years at Berklee College of Music, I've had the joy of being surrounded by some of the greatest young players in the world - kids whose creativity, skill, and general joie de vivre is the most inspiring thing I've ever known. Listening to and playing with them has really made me grow as a musician and a human being. I'm overjoyed by their love, support, and sense of community.
Purpose: Record and Share the Love
Sharing that joy and community is the goal of this new album. Using the two free days that we all had in common (between touring and finishing our studies), we took our hearts, minds, and bodies to their limits and recorded live sessions all day, then opened up the studio and put on an intimate show on the second night. The whole process was filmed and photographed, and if we're able to fund the project, there will be full, high-quality videos of every song available online, in addition to the digital and physical pressing of the album.
Here's where you come in
I'm so excited about this music, and I can't wait to be able to share it. I can't do it alone, though. In this great, evolving music industry, one of the most inspiring things is the growing power of independent music and its fans. In the same way that it took the support of a community to record this music, it takes a community to set it free. So, instead of the old-school, big-label approach of the past, I'm hoping we can to do this grassroots. Together, from the ground up.
If you pledge to support the creation of my new album, I'll give back to you, too. There are tons of different levels at which you can be involved - and the returns range all the way from an advance copy of the CD to a private house concert for you and your friends.
Sometimes Kickstarter campaigns go beyond the initial financial goal - so, just in case, if there are more donations than required, I'll use the money for promotion and touring, and maybe even help to pay off the remainder of the loan I took out to make Proof.
