The story of Haiti not told, an incredible saga of a people persevering despite all odds and a family starting fresh in a new land.
How Does Kickstarter Work?
Until the funding drive ends you can make pledges to help support our project. Pledges range from $15 to $500. Keep it to something you can afford without your spouse, significant other, parent or financial advisor grounding you.
For your pledge, you may select one of the wonderful reward packages (listed at right). There is a reward for any of the pledge amounts listed. However, you can give any amount you choose.
You can change your mind right up to the final deadline. Your account will not actually be charged until the project is successfully funded. When the final deadline comes, if we have reached our goal, everyone gets charged the amount they pledged.
Two weeks later Amazon transfers the money to our bank account and we get to work sending out thank you cards and shipping your rewards package.
If we don't meet our goal then no one gets charged, no fees are applied, everyone just keeps their money. Of course, if we fail to meet the goal, then no one gets any rewards either.
Anything you can do to spread the word is greatly appreciated from pressing the "Like" button under the video to tweeting or telling your friends to come kickstart "Revolution to Revelation."
We will put 5% of our finished product profits back into other Kickstarter projects. To be abundantly clear, this is only money that the creator earns as profit AFTER the project ships and AFTER we have paid our expenses. We will NOT invest money we received from people who invested into this project via Kickstarter. For more info visit http://kickingitforward.org
The book Revolution to Revelation is a history of the incredible story that is Haiti, once "The Pearl of the Antilles". The reader will journey through the unbelievable force that was the Haitian Revolution and how it totally upset the Colonial Super Powers at the turn of the Century. R to R will also give you a glimpse into the family of a revolutionary that made it to New York to start a life with his new family. This compelling story takes the reader through the struggles of a family learning how to exist and even thrive in a new land very different than their own, yet full of optimism and hope.
We also explore why the Haitian has been seen as such a threat. Why were the "boat people" returned, when the Cuban was embraced? Why was Haiti forced to pay such a staggering amount to the French, which they just beat? Why has America occupied Haiti three times since the turn of the century? Why was Jefferson so concerned of a "bunch of slaves"? Why is Haiti still suppressed? Why does Haiti still owe the French? Why hasn't the debt been wiped clean and reparations being made? There are obviously a myriad of questions. We are getting the answers and some are disturbing to say the least. Many of the answers are there in the country and the people of Haiti, the lore, the legends, the stories of a time past.
Haiti desperately needs a resurgence in belief, in attitude, in Hope for a brighter day. The Haitian people are some of the most resilient on the face of this earth. Ravaged by storms, winds, floods on top of oppressive poverty comes a devastating earthquake and still we rise!
We to thank God for those willing to make a difference. People like Sean Penn, Donna Karan, Dr. Campolo as well as so many with not so famous names like Benite Jeune, Doug Barker and the wonderful staff of Mission of Hope. So many faceless persons with their hands to the plow, doing the work and not looking back, thank you all!!!
The saga continues as the story unfolds. Help us get the facts and tell the story. We need to make at least two more trips to Haiti to complete our research. We want to have the book written by December/2012 and published January/2013. With your help, we will make it happen!
Won't you join, do whatever you can. Every one can do something!
You can make a difference!!!
