Although she is the West Coast photographer for EBONY and JET magazines, Valerie Goodloe waited a long time to find the courage to do what she loves. “I’ve always wanted to take pictures, however there were always barriers that forced me to put my passion aside for fear of not being able to meet my obligation as a mother and provider”. Valerie Goodloe is a Southern California native and product of South Los Angeles. She has been to Africa with former President Clinton documenting his work in the Clinton Foundation and has become the official photographer for “Save Africa’s Children.” She also grazed the campaign trails both nationally and internationally as a part of the press core with President Barack Obama. "Gang Girl" is Goodloe’s first film and a documentary that she hopes will shed important light on a growing problem, which has gone virtually unnoticed by the mass media.
