About this project
Over the last two months, I've been dodging copious amounts of dog pee and steaming piles of unscooped poop to bring you the first series of DoggyCorps NYC animated shorts.
Check them out on DoggyCorps.org and help me finish the NYC fieldwork to create a true portrait of this city, from the ground up!
Each story has its own sort of magic, whether it be in the every day or in the extraordinary. My work as an artist is to find those nuggets and bring them to you. Each short represents a lot of work--work I love doing and want to continue.
As I collect stories, the edited versions will be posted online, where visitors (you!) will rate the audio tracks. I will create 30-35 animations for the top-rated NYC tracks. In a feat of technology prowess enabled by Kickstarter support, all online visitors will eventually be able to upload video and audio of their own dogs...from anywhere and everywhere!
In the end, I'm a one-woman show and New York City is a big place. Every bit you can give is reflected in all aspects of this project, from the fieldwork, to the editing, to the animating and web design work. I hope you'll be a part of this project!

Jenine Durland first joined the Kickstarter community as a Master's student in NYU's ITP (Interactive Telecommunications Program) with her project www.DoggyCorps.org which collected the stories of New York City dog owners together in an animated exploration of life as a four-legged furball in the city. A media artist, teacher and poet, she now lives in her native Bay Area where she wrangles compressed audio & amazing grandparents through Tributary Audio Archives.
