About this project
** This funding WILL NOT go through if we don't all at least make it to our $5,000 goal... even if you all pledge up to $4,999, we WILL NOT receive the money for the tour if we don't make it to $5,000... Wanted to make sure that was clear, people have been asking.***
If you are visiting our page, we hope it's because you know our music, and we hope even more that it's because you like our music. We are heading out on the road Oct 20th, the day our album "Arrow" comes out and we are running majorly in the red for this tour. In fact, until a band is pretty darn big, they usually are not making a profit on touring (sad but true!). Some of the things that we need to pay for while touring are: vans, hotels, gas, gear, food, each members' bills, plane tickets, publicity, and flat tires! We are touring in the US in fall 2009, then we are doing a second US tour in Jan of 2010(east AND west coast), then heading to Europe/UK in March, hopefully Japan after that. If you would be willing to give up a little something to help support our tour we promise to do our best to make it to your town/country. We, of course, will have INCREDIBLE giveaways, so we feel the trade is fair, on every level... We are over the moon to play the new music and want to play the new songs for you, loyal lovely audience. If many of you just give a little, it will add up fast. We are pulling this money towards all touring for "Arrow" not just the US but globally. Just so you know, $5,000 will not be enough to fund the debt of these tours, but we're playing it safe, we want/need to surpass our goal though!

Send MessageBrooklyn-based Clare and the Reasons, fronted by collaborators Clare and Olivier Manchon, is pleased to announce the release of their sophomore album, Arrow, out October 20th on Frog Stand Records. Arrow features a special guest appearance from Shara Worden of My Brightest Diamond, and is the followup to their acclaimed debut LP, The Movie, which included contributions from Van Dyke Parks and Sufjan Stevens. Clare and the gang have spent the past two years touring around the world in support of The Movie. Live, they have a steady list of contributors (the ‘Reasons, including members of The National and Beirut), with a lot of instruments– cellos, violas, things to hit, kazoos, baby kotos, saws, recorders. It took a bit of wood, nails and many blankets to make Arrow in a recording tent built in the Ditmas Park apartment of Clare and the Reasons’ neighbor, friend and engineer, Alex Venguer. Clare and the Reasons deliver an assortment of meticulously constructed and arranged songs, most written by Clare in her very own kitchen, arranged by Olivier in the living room with two cats by his side, and recorded with surgical precision with the help of “Reason” Bob Hart. Walking the line between musical maturity and sophistication and primal, childlike musical instincts, Arrow floats in both worlds, comfortably. Clare and the Reasons will be touring North America in support of Arrow starting in late October with The Vic Chesnutt Band (featuring Guy Picciotto of Fugazi and members of Thee Silver Mt. Zion). Van Dyke Parks says, “Clare is the Reasons’ raison d’être. Melodious et mysterieux–(the group) defines esprit de corps.
