The Concept: With the help of my father we are creating a line of tennis shoes made with the combination of modern materials and hand woven textiles made by indigenous women of our country, Guatemala.

What makes our shoes unique and different is that they are produced in Guatemala (cradle of the Maya civilization) with hand made Mayan textiles made by Mayan descendants of different regions of Guatemala. Every thread, every pattern, every color, is characteristic of a specific region of Guatemala.

Why? Indigenous women of Guatemala, descendants of the Mayas, have been creating beautiful textiles woven by hand with ancient techniques passed to them through generations and generations. This women work for many hours every day weaving thread by thread textiles that display a large array of colors and patterns that symbolize important aspects of their culture. The end product are beautiful and colorful textiles that are used by them in many different aspects of their lives. 

 What we wanted to do with our line of shoes is to show the world the beautiful textiles this women make that reflect years of history of a culture rich in traditions and colors that come from the time of the ancient Maya civilization. So we thought, what better way to do this than to use this artful textiles in a product that is functional, fashionable and usable by all the people in the world, the tennis shoe. 

Why We Need Your Help: We have developed the first prototypes and a small production run (30 pairs) which we have promoted through friends, family and social networks. We are amazed by the incredible comments we have received from people all over the world and through the many emails of people who want to own a pair of our shoes. Its been so, that we have even received orders from Ricardo Arjona a Grammy Award Winner from Guatemala. 

Unfortunately producing this shoes in large scale is expensive because of the high initial costs of the textiles, injection molds and machinery equipment needed for a large production scale. With your help and specially by pre ordering your shoes we will be able to pay for this start up costs and not only produce in a large scale but to create more styles and colors of shoes for people to wear.
