It’s official, ADR is done!
This means that we’ve re-recorded all of the dialogue that was difficult, and in places, impossible to hear. Now BFE’s words are clear and discernible, which will help the audience track the story and better understand the characters, motivations and plot points in this coming of age drama.
This was no easy feat and a great debt is owed to the actors who rose to the occasion, revisiting scenes filmed over a year ago, bringing with them the same sincerity, intensity and musicality that they found on all those various locations in north Idaho so long ago.
An even greater debt is owed to the fine folks at Clatter & Din, the world-class sound studio who has been handling all of our post-production audio. They’ve filled in holes, corrected mistakes and occasionally performed pure sonic miracles thus making BFE’s sound as fine as the rest of the film. Now the film’s audio is as formidable as all of the beautiful pictures, the many fine performances and what I believe to be an interesting and compelling story.
Like the Little Engine that Could, we’re pulling this train over the mountain and I truly, sincerely and deeply appreciate your encouragement and support every step of the way.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, we got some very good news: BFE is one of six American films selected to participate in the US in Progress program, a part of the Champs Elysées Film Festival in Paris, on June 13-16 2013.
During the festival, we'll have several opportunities to screen the unfinished film to an audience of European distributors. The hope is that someone will buy the film and/or help us raise the money to finish the film properly. Although we have a rough draft of the film, there's still post-production audio, color correction and a slew of other bits and pieces to tidy up, not to mention fine tuning the edit, which we are working on presently, in other words, we’re adding music, sound effects, titles and subtitles, as well as experimenting with pacing, scene structures, adding and subtracting dialogue, etc.
As it stands, it’s not perfect but it’s getting close!
We couldn’t have made it this far without you and your generous support. Thank you once again for believing in this film and we look forward to sharing it with you at a cast and crew screening in August... or thereabouts!
Here's more on US in Progress, Paris:
Hello all you fabulous backers.
Tonight I was watching an early draft of the film and was reminded how we couldn't have done any of this without you. This prompted me to start working on the credits, organizing everyone's names and giving the proper shout-outs where shout-outs are due.... and I noticed that some of you lovely people used a company name, initials, aliases and/or incomplete names, for instance first name only.
I would like to properly thank each and everyone one of you in our credits and I would like to thank you with your first and last name.... if at all possible.
I understand some of you would like to remain anonymous or use your company name but I wanted to give everyone an opportunity to make a correction before we start to get the bells and whistles locked into place. So please, if you would like any changes made, send an email to me here or personally at sydhartha at comcast.net.
If I do not hear from you, I'll just assume that you're fine to be credited using your Kickstarter handle. Which is fine, really.
In other news, it's exciting to see the pieces of the puzzle coming together. There's still much work to be done but the first complete cut of the film is a major milestone and I'm very excited to have come this far.
Couldn't have done it without you! Seriously!
