The PCB battle plus New Images for non-facebookers
I can’t think of one part of this project that has gone off without a hitch but we are getting through it. The latest challenges are the PCB fit into the first article parts. We did expect this because we ended up rolling a rev mid-design and the PCB design was hardest hit. The first version of PCB was designed with the lenses focusing on the wrong plane… My fault, not the PCB designer. We rolled the rev for the enclosure but the PCB had already been released to fab. We knew it wasn’t going to work but we decided to use it for test and roll the rev again once we worked out any other bugs. Anyway, what you see below is the PCBs not quite fitting into the first article housing.
On another note; I hear a lot of you are not really liking Facebook and may not have accounts so I wanted to drop some pictures in Kickstarter so nobody is left out of the loop. These are all untouched images, not renderings, except the building at the bottom... we added our logo, just to see what it will look like.

@Marcus Frasier-You are right , *I* do not look at packaging. For me I like to research stuff online like get reviews from forums or other review sites that have tested out a product I wanted more info on. Sure they have unboxing vids/photo journals, but I want the nitty gritty....meaning is it worth getting.
My point is that when researching online, for me, the packaging is worthless. I don't do research on packaging, only the contents of the package. Do I think packaging is important? Yes I do! I have a good friend who works at a company where his sole purpose is to determine if a certain packaging is appealing to the consumer.
Just for me, and people like me, do not really get turned on with packaging. Now if it came in a nifty carrying case (mouse or kb), that would be a different story! Am I an average consumer? Most likely no, because I tend to analyze EVERYTHING when I make a purchase. So you can take my comment as it is and I will do the same.

@Kinpong Li YOU don't look at packaging... You think the average consumer doesn't? If this product is to go mainstream and be sitting on the shelf of a best buy, you think someone shopping for a new keyboard would give this a second look?

N/M they said their building logo was faked.
Creator Chris Canavan on August 6, 2012
It is me or does that building photo look totally Photoshopped and faked. *wonders.

it looks really good. Looking forward to the final result.

Thanks for the update for us non FB'ers :). When can we expect a deadline on when they will ship? Is there a schedule you guys are trying to adhere to? Like you stated in your previous updates, you are anxious to get these into our hands :). Thanks for all the forthcoming info!

@ Marcus Fraiser, any "eye-popping" packaging is a good fit for stores that Quirky sells to like Bed Bath and Beyond. Reason, they have so much stuff there in the mix, you need something LOUD to differentiate it from it's competitor.
IMO, flashy packaging is not needed. I mean I was in the market for a laptop and I didn't check out the packaging...:) I looked at the contents, the shape, the weight, the feel of the product. And then took a look at the specs. The last thing I looked at was the packaging because I needed to find it to buy the one I wanted.
Creator Jason Giddings on August 6, 2012
Absolutely! What you see here is just the box we will use to ship direct. The retail package is being designed. We should have something amazing to show you in another week or so.
Creator Marcus Frasier on August 6, 2012
Thanks for the update. Are these going to retail? If so, I think you're going to want more attractive packaging. The packaging here is good for OEM-type stuff, but it makes it look like a chinese knockoff. I'd take a page from Quirky's book and go for eye-popping packaging to make your product stand out.
