Miro is a free, non-profit, and open-source video player used by millions of people. Help us connect video makers to the world with subtitle support.

Miro is a free, non-profit, and open-source video player used by millions of people around the world. It's built by the Participatory Culture Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to building a more free, fair, and decentralized media environment.

The Miro software is already translated by volunteers into dozens of languages, but we want to add true subtitle support so that people can watch content in other languages and to help the hearing-impaired have access to video.

Money donated to this project will fund a wonderful programmer-- Luc Heinrich from Paris, France -- to build subtitle support into Miro. This will allow anyone to select subtitle files and turn them on while watching a video. It will also lay the foundation for plans we have to build an open subtitle lookup and download system in the future.

(if you live in the United States, donations are tax deductible-- we are a 501c3 non-profit)
