About this project
Classical Revolution is launching a new record label:
CLASSICAL REVOLUTION RECORDS
With your help we will continue the chamber music revolution that has spread around the world. We hope to highlight new independent chamber ensembles and composers, fusing classical with world music and other forms, to create new sounds for our modern world.
We are planning to launch our new label and to release the first album, the Musical Art Quintet's "Nuevo Chamber" in June of 2011.
Classical Revolution is a global organization founded and based in San Francisco which promotes high quality live music performance in neighborhood venues for free or cheap, making live music accessible for our greater communities.
We've held a weekly chamber music residency at Revolution Cafe in SF's Mission District for the past 4+ years, featuring some of the best local and touring musicians and ensembles.
Classical Revolution chapters have sprouted up in cities around the world, inspired by the new model for music presentation we are developing in San Francisco.
The Musical Art Quintet is the 2011 ensemble-in-residence for Classical Revolution.
The members of the Musical Art Quintet are some of San Francisco's most talented and versatile string players:
Anthony Blea, violin :: Jory Fankuchen, violin :: Charith Premawardhana, viola :: Shain Carrasco, cello :: Sascha Jacobsen, upright bass
The ensemble is led by Sascha Jacobsen, bassist for Argentinian tango group Trio Garufa.
Sascha's music is inspired by dance rhythms from South America (tango, salsa) and around the world, evoking JS Bach's compositions derived from 17th Century dance forms (allemande, gavotte).
We need your help to get the record label off the ground!
We have already begun tracking and will be spending the next 2 months in the studio recording and mixing the tunes.
We will use the funds we raise to master and print the first batch of CDs. Any additional funds will be used to promote live music events and new releases.
Join us. Be a part of the revolution.
Thanks for your support.

Sascha Jacobsen was born into a musical family, going as far back as his great, great, great, great-grandfather, who was a bassist for the Moscow Opera.
Sascha has been playing the bass since age 16, both upright and electric; he is also a composer and arranger.
