A short film about friendship, young love, timing, and taking chances (or the lack thereof).
Take a Chance is a short narrative film about how timing can make or break the transition between friendship and love, and how one makes decisions on whether to take a chance and risk it all, or to sit back and watch what happens.
We've all experienced the crushing emotions involved with unrequited love, yet sometimes, it isn't because the significant other isn't open to it, it's because sometimes, even if you really want something to happen, you just can't muster the strength to go for it.
The path from friendship to lovers is indeed a perilous and often irreversible route to take, as Mark knows very well. He's an average young adult; mildly attractive, kind, understanding, mature, and of course, passionate. Yet he has always been missing one thing; love. He had never experienced that adventure, yet he's okay with that. He rarely thinks about it, and chooses to focus on his own work and goals. He has many friends of the opposite sex, and that is what they are; friends, until one day someone brings to his attention the closeness of one of his best female friends, and suddenly he is awash with feelings of lust, obsession, and possibly love. Yet now, he can't seem to act the same around her, and debates whether or not to risk it all and confess his inner emotions, or to endure the rest of their relationship as just friends.
Take a Chance is a project by a Freshman NYU Tisch Photography and Imaging student, who is trying/expanding out his skills in the world of intermediate/post-beginner digital filmmaking. It will be shot on a Canon 5D Mark II as well as a Panasonic HMC-150.
Why I Need Your Help!
We all have to start somewhere. From humble beginnings to building foundations to establishing a name for yourself, everyone has to start from scratch, especially in the fast paced and insanely competitive field of filmmaking and visual storytelling. Joey Wang is an overly-ambitious filmmaker who strives to create a foundation to establish his work under. As he is brand new to the scene with little professional experience under his belt, he does not have many resources to go by, mainly equipment and talent. A large portion of the funding will go to upkeep and rental fees of certain camera equipment (rigs, monitors, lenses, etc) as well as food and travel fees for the cast and crew, and certain location fees required for shooting.
Please consider helping out this project, and I will be forever grateful!
