Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on October 3, 2012.

Photo-main

It’s Imagination Installations’ 1st Birthday and we want to celebrate big by creating an interactive art project.

Project Components

1st Part of the Project: Flying Dreams

For the past year we’ve been collecting dreams from everyday people in our
community using the statement “Imagine When…”

Imagine When... Conservative and liberal ideas merge for the Good of the world. --Tim Johnson
Imagine When... Conservative and liberal ideas merge for the Good of the world. --Tim Johnson

We want to write these dreams on giant-sized beach balls and balloons so we can toss around some big ideas and even bigger dreams.

2nd Part of the Project: Dream Cookies

"Imagine When..." fortune cookies are filled with dreams instead of cheesy advice.

We're going to print dreams we've collected on tiny slips of paper, and insert them into fortune cookies.

3rd Part of the Project: Sharing the Dream

And here’s the fun part, we’re going to pass out the Dream Fortune Cookies and let the Big Dreams Fly (on the balloons and beach balls) at Gallery Hop in the Arts District of Winston-Salem on Friday, October 5th.

Supply List

  • Fortune Cookies filled with real dreams from everyday people in Forsyth County
  • Giant Sized and Medium Sized Beach Balls
  • Balloons, String and Bean Bags
  • LEDs to insert inside the balloons
  • Helium
  • Permanent Markers in Fun Colors

About the Imagination Installation’s Project of Winston-Salem, NC

At the Imagination Installation Project we believe in harnessing the collective power of our community’s dreams.  We do that by building Imaginariums: places where people can record their dreams and discover what others have shared.

Winston-Salem’s Imagination Installation Project is an emerging grassroots effort that first came to life in August 2011 and is fueled by volunteers… more than 100 entrepreneurs, architects, artists, activists, community leaders, business owners, educators, designers and other innovators who love to think big and dream big.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

We have already created several "Imagination Installations" in our community, and the technical expertise required is easy to find locally.

There is of course the risk of illness and injury that may affect the amount of balloons, beach balls, and fortune cookies we are able to create in time for the Oct. 5th Gallery Hop.

As this event is planned to primarily happen outside, weather might interfere if it rains. However, if that happens, we're ready to move into the Yoga Gallery and have the event there (one of our volunteers has already secured this as a possible backup location).
