Huge thanks are due for your backing of a success filled tour.
Dear Backers:
The CCBdance Project would like to thank you for your backing and give you an update on the success of our tour project in Burkina Faso and the Ivory Coast.
In Ouagadougou, Celia had the opportunity to teach technique and movement research/improvisation at Ecole de Danse Edit during SIDO. She was honored by the opportunity to teach at a respected dance school which is directed by veteran African Contemporary artist, Irene Tassembedo. In addition to these activities, Celia did research for a new dance, "Je suis entre deux." This project correlates location, translation and experience as was begun through a residency at the BVAR in Benton Harbor, Michigan in the Spring of 2012.
In Abidjan, Celia was thrilled to teach an incredible group of artists from 10 different dance companies based in Abidjan. In addition to teaching, technique, improvisation and choreography she also had to opportunity to assemble a dance created from the material generated during the 11 days of intensive workshops. This workshop showing was held at the Institut Francaise in Abidjan. It was an honor and huge pleasure to work with an incredible group of artists as well as the festival's production team. In addition to the activities, Celia also participated in a quite a few public improvisations, organized by Ange Aoussou, that occurred throughout the city of Abidjan during the festival and presented a 15 minute excerpt of "Kenbe, Amour, Colere, Folie: Improvisations For Love" (2011) at the Goethe Institut in a shared program with Ange Aoussou (Ivory Coast) and Gabi Glinz (Switzerland).
Thank you for your backing of this tour, performance, teaching and movement research activities. Your backing helped make this important trip possible for the CCBdance Project. We will be in touch for those of you who selected rewards of a dvd and photos or dinner at Chez Violette Haitian Restaurant.
