Update #40: SOLD OUT!

Posted on April 20

We have less than fifty First Edition PenMoto's remaining.  Because of the expense of assembly and parting line and solvent issues with the manufacturer we will not be making this edition again.  It will be months before the second edition will be unveiled, and then longer before released.

We will be able to sell a few dozen more, if anyone wants one.  But we will not sell the entire inventory.  Just thought a couple of you might like to know.

We have learned so much from this first edition.  It was priceless for us, in terms of experience and in terms of your feedback.  We made many mistakes, and it cost us dearly, but I am amazed at how gracious and understanding you have all been to us.

It is greatly appreciated Kickstarter.

Ian, you are AWESOME! I would be happy to sell you the first. It would be great to go to lunch if I ever make it to Belfast.

David, thank you very much for the positive comment. We worked really hard to execute the first edition. Every set that we mailed ended up costing us 22 dollars beyond what was funded. So, I greatly appreciate your understanding. Backers like you, Ian and so many others are why we kept going.

I love the PenMoto I've got. It's a great item and I use it all the time.

Do you plan on making the new version compatible with the old version? Or are you working on a totally new design?

Update #39: Stephen

Posted on February 29

A good friend of mine that freely donated his time to help with video and animations for PenMoto has been watching his youngest son Stephen suffer from a rare and very vicious form of brain and central nervous system cancer.

I hope I don't offend anyone, because I'm sure we all know and love someone that is fighting or has fought cancer. Stephen really is the sweetest kid, and his suffering has helped me better realize how previous life is and how fortunate I am to be able to love, laugh, share and enjoy beauty and happiness in life.

SO, Stephen and his loving family have taught me a very powerful lesson in gratitude for so much that I so often take for granted.

I can not thank Brent and his wife enough for their generosity. They unselfishly helped me tremendously in getting PenMoto on kickstarter before Stephen was even diagnosed.

Stephen may be unlucky to be fighting for his life, but he is so lucky to have such incredible parents, siblings and caregivers at St. Judes.

Whatever your beliefs or religion might be, Stephen and his family could use your thoughts and prayers.

How to make your self-sizing ring a custom sized ring.

You will need a small drop of superglue.

Nice green colour on that ring. Looks cool. Will you be offering the aluminum rings in the future?

I had actually made a little spacer to put in the expanded gap, which I glued and then taped over with plumber's tape. This seams like a much simpler solutions. Thanks.

Update #37: Feedback Survey Results

Posted on February 2

RESULTS!!!

These survey results are always so interesting.  Especially the written results and comments.  Some of you had some very VERY good ideas that I plan to implement with the upcoming revisions.

Here are the results...

The following survey result was the most surprising and helpful to me.  Fit and comfort are going to need a total redesign.

I have used a heavy silver PenMoto for many years.  I think this is reflected in the lightweight design.  This makes me want to move to Carbon Fiber, even more than before.

I was very happy to see that the majority of you would consider future models.  The next design won't be ready anytime soon, but I will be certain to give all backers and previous purchasers a major discount.

Many comments about needing more videos.  This is a clear path for what I need to provide.

I would just like to thank all of you that responded.  I care greatly about getting PenMoto perfected and making it enjoyable for you.

I found it more the fit of the coupler than the ring, since it can be fairly tricky to fit some pens and i cound imagine it possibly breaking or fatiguing over time the plastic coupler.
All in all though its awesome and i probably wasnt the first to think of the carbon fibre potential since Kelvin knows the guy that has made the x pen but i cant wait to see that possibly happen.

I use my PenMoto every day all day at work and it is a LIFESAVER!! I have carpel tunnel and tendenitis in both hands/arms from years of creative editing. The PenMoto makes it so I don't have to grip my pen - rather gently guide it along my Wacom tablet. No pain = Major Gains - in productivity. Awesome. Awesome. However, the smaller battery in my ring piece keeps falling out... no matter. I can still spin it and love it!

Update #36: Domestic Feedback

Posted on January 31

Your feedback, both positive and negative has been very helpful.

This first edition of PenMoto is far from perfect, and I'm sure that I could've done a better job.  Do you mind visiting this survey and giving me your feedback?  The results will be posted on Thursday evening, February 2nd.  For those that have yet to receive PenMoto, we will leave the survey open for a couple weeks and will repost the results with the "Post Mortem" write-up.
