Update #29: Thank you Kickstarter!

Posted on November 9, 2011

After a torrent of interest, months of hard work and perseverance we are very pleased to have delivered GoPano micro to all of our backers and thousands more since. You can pick up your own GoPano micro at store.gopano.com, or from one of our growing list of resellers, including Amazon.com, Adorama, B&H Photo, BiteMyApple.coThinkGeek and many more to come.

GoPano micro is not just an optical device, but also an iPhone app and a hosting web site. In the past few months, we've created a mass-produced panoramic optic device, with a brand new mirror design that's never existed before. We've developed software to unwarp, present and record video from this device in real time, on a computer that fits in your pocket. We've made the first ever video hosting site specifically geared towards panoramic video, and we're providing it for free to all of our users. All three are tied together so you can create, publish, and explore panoramic video content from around the world in the palm of your hand. We've put this all together in about 6 months, with an engineering team that's small enough to share a table at lunch, while continuing to support our existing products.

It's been our vision for more than a decade to make panoramic video as commonplace as traditional video. There are many individuals and companies around the world that share this vision, and have made panoramic video devices ranging from a few hundred dollars to a few hundred thousand. Today, thousands of people are creating panoramic video with GoPano micro. Putting this technology into the hands of so many, we're closer to our vision now than ever before.

I am extremely proud of my team and all we have accomplished. We've made a great product right here in the USA, grown our company, and created new jobs to help build them. We've learned a great deal in the process, and are already hard at work applying those lessons in our ongoing product development. From all of us on the team, we thank our supporters on Kickstarter for helping to make it happen.

We have an excellent support team, and now we have a system in place to help assist you more efficiently than ever. If you ever have any issues or questions with your GoPano, please contact our team or use our web site below:

      Yup, waiting for mine too.

Not really a support question so hopefully someone is at least still reading comments here. Back on August 26 it was stated that after the main production run, the limited edition batch would be made. Is this still planned or is that no longer happening?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the lens clean? Mine is seriously dirty and not being able to get anywhere near the lens nor the plastic covering inside is becoming a major problem. The air solution sounds cute for dust but seriously impractical for anyone living in a country with very high humidity.

I reckon the optic would have been better served with a closed design so you only clean the outside.

      Hi,

I just receive a mail from your product manager, regarding my enquiries on a large batch of GoPano... but nothing about the decieving quality of the video generated with our gopano.

Could you please bring us an answer, honest answer, on how it would be improved in the future ?

You projet have been largely funded by people like me, who where dazle by your demos, the least you can do, is stop BS us, in some of your answers.

I have to agree with Charles Liebert, the demo videos (shot with an iPhone 4???) look nothing like the video my 4S takes. I think at the very least, the backers deserve a detail and honest answer about the quality issues at hand as well as the steps being taken to resolves these issues.

Any update from GoPano on the poor video quality?

It would be nice to know.

      I feel deceived.

Update #27: GoPano micro is iPhone 4S Compatible

Posted on October 14, 2011

Hi again,

We were able to get our hands on an iPhone 4S today and we have good news for everyone - the GoPano micro is compatible. We made a few minor changes to the 1.0 app to adjust for the iPhone 4S and we will be submitting it to Apple for review today. As for the case, it fits without any issues.

Enjoy!

Update #26: iPhone 4S - Quick Note

Posted on October 13, 2011

Hi All,

We're anxiously awaiting our new iPhone tomorrow. We will report on compatibility once we have one in-hand. There's a pretty good chance that the GoPano micro optic will work as-is.

For those of you who get your iPhone 4S: Please note that the GoPano 0.9 app will not show recording controls on the new phone just yet. This is because we were testing specifically for iPhone 4 models to enable the recorder, not because there is any known compatibility issue. The GoPano 1.0 app will enable recording with the 4S and will be available in the App Store once it passes through Apple's approval process.

Michael Rondinelli on October 14, 2011

John: The license agreement for the App Store prohibits distribution of an app through any other channels. We're going to stick with the sanctioned outlet.

Todd: Everyone's optic has shipped now, unless you didn't provide an address or you asked us to hold shipment. Check the kickstarter.gopano.com site for details.

Update #25: All GoPano micros have been shipped!!!

Posted on October 13, 2011

The last couple of days have been busy ones here at EyeSee360, but we have finished shipping the last of the GoPano micros to the backers - over 1000 units in the last 24 hours! We want to thank all of you for your help with this project. Everyone here on the GoPano team hopes that you will enjoy your product as much as we do.

A few backers have shipment address issues. Our staff will be in touch to resolve these issues as soon as possible.

Our work doesn't stop here. We will continue to work on the GoPano micro (and the other GoPano products) to continue to bring you leading edge panoramic tools. Look for the GoPano 1.0 iPhone app within the next couple of weeks with new features and refinements that will make creating, sharing and experiencing panoramic video even better. We hope that all of you continue to make and post great videos on gopano.com - we have seen some great stuff already.

One last thing to note - the GoPano micro is now available for sale on our website in addition to being available from a number of other fine retailers.

EyeSee360 has been making cool tools for panoramic imaging for more than a decade. We got started at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute, making optics for robots to see their environment better. Since then we've found that humans like panoramas, too.
