Hey, thanks for re-pledging, and really, every $10 counts...we're humbled that you're emptying your bank account for us. The new video was created to help us get the remaining $7,000 that we need on our $10,000 campaign. The first one is here: http://vimeo.com/17263457. We've got a Fizzy Fondue Fundraiser tonight with an amazing line-up of raffle prizes that should help us make some serious headway towards the grand total, and you should come (except you live in Boston?).

Wait a minute... I thought the goal was $7,000???? The video said 7, not 10... I'm confused :(

Matt, when I checked in a few minutes ago the total was $6,980 and I thought, "How cool if I pledged the last 20!!" But, alas, I only have $10 in my back account right now, hahaha, so there you have it, now you're at $6,990! You're gonna make it!!!!!! I'm so proud of you for sticking to it!!!

Matt, I'm currently unemployed so I'm only able to give $10. I wish it was more, because I've been following your efforts from afar and I really believe in what your doing. I've had some of your scones at Grumpy's Coffee and they are amazing. Good luck getting all the money for this Kickstarter Campaign!!

I didn't realize that was to anywhere as so much of this was NY-centric. Sorry for the confusion.

Jon--it's not a selfish question as we'd like you to get a solid bite of our bread, even if you aren't in the area. But freshness is important to us, which is we are making an exception to our general standard of not shipping with the SCRATCHpackage plan by overnighting a box of deliciousness to your doorstep (and we'll even promise delivery for the holidays!). If you're looking for something a little more modest, drop us an email: info@scratchbread.com

Love the concept you are putting together, and the proposal is great. Just curious in lieu of one of the plans you have is there any way you could vacuum seal a loaf and send it cross country? Not to sound completely greedy & selfish trying to figure out a way I can back it and see a small return. Thank you.

Your feeling is recognized Shawn, thank you for taking the time to write this. I've been sensing a sort of anger, or rather, clamor within the those eyes peering in, passerby’s reading the chalk boardsigns in the window, seeing the stale or burnt breads as taunting and torturous… because I’ve said it, It is my fault, this IS a brand for the people, so I owe it to you… were on the same page with that…. I am making progress towards this goal, really, but i like to do things right, and sometimes that takes a little longer… But Im a man of my word. So I’m trying to find some resources to help this thing happen...

So why the hell cant I open for one damn day you ask?! Well I’ll be honest.. It's been weighing on me quite a bit too… I like our relationship better when I give you what you want… (those faces at the brooklyn flea when were out of brownies are not fun). So maybe there is some way I can prove to you I’ve got your back. Perhaps I can make a compromise.

I’m right now trying to find the right crew to build this with, SCRATCHteam is one of the most important elements and good people are hard to find, especially those who like to work hard…. So that is my focus right now, with the right team, as I’ve experienced running kitchens, you can do anything.

Realistically I can only, if I open one day a week, still only make so much bread with the equipment I have and thats the biggest issue shawn. Its why we’ve been trying to raise some dough on kickstarter since i got the space. We’ve only been here 4 months, even though it feels like a lifetime already.

I know nobody wants to hear it, but i have two small ovens, nad Ive got a 30qt mixer… there is only so much we can do. Put it this way… In order to show up at the brooklyn flea every saturday… the production starts at 4am friday morning, and it ends 24 hours later. If the ovens cant make the breads fast enough, there isnt anything 20 hands can do to make them cook faster, so without equipment, were kinda stuck.

Look, if it will make everyone happy to open the window just one day... I'll find a way to make that happen.
I am tryin here people, it's not like I'm lazy.

Look for an update by the end of the week about the walk -up window… Let me see what i can do.

I really want to express how much i appreciate all your support and positive energy, Your why I dont stop, you and this collective of brooklyn food culture. I love what I’m doing and am honored to know your right by my side in this… Thanks for the support.

Or.... could you arrange to sell to the local bodegas? I know some of them have started a new program with local armers where they now stock fresh produce- Mohammed on Bedford between Green and Clifton does this- it's a great new program and really helps out the neighborhood- just in the way you talk about in your company profile.
      Shawn again....

walking past your Bed Sty location every day is like living in the desert and having someone install a water cooler with a sign on it, "cups available for all soon.... ". When you started to get set up my neighbors and my family were crazy excited as our only two local options have been wonder bread or a loaf from Choice for $14.00! Isn't there any way you can find to sell to us? One day a week where you set up sidewalk sales for a two hour window? or could we pay in advance and pick up at a designated time? As it stands, now that I know you won't be open any time soon I am angry every time I pass your door. Not completely rational unless you go back to the water cooler in the desert analogy. Hey, we're SCRATCHbread. Our intentions are basically to enhance a common set of ideals shared through food. This means food that is approachable yet sophisticated, plain and simple, and most importantly, absolutely delicious. Yes, we make the goods, but this company is about every single person that supports the ideals and energy of SCRATCH. We just happen to help the thing bounce a bit.

There is only one thing, however, that we can really guarantee with words about SCRATCH… Because the whole point of SCRATCH is that the proof is in the pudding… The guarantee is that once you’ve tried SCRATCH, every time you see, hear & taste something from SCRATCH, you’ll always know it was made from SCRATCH.
