Update #7: New Website Up! Queens & Cowboys joins the modern world

Posted on January 7

Happy New Year Magnanimous Q&C backers!

I hope everyone enjoyed a great holiday and is ready to make the best of this brand new year. I'm proud to announce that our website is officially up at www.QueensandCowboys.com -- it will be the one stop place to post updates, photos and more info as we go along.  Special thanks to Bobby Lam for installing the code for us, otherwise we'd have been -- as cowboys say -- up sh*t creek...

As for the movie, shooting continued until early December, and we now have over 500 hours of footage to make a 100(ish) minute movie! We're now officially in post-production and underway with the skeleton edit. A gigantic thank you goes out to Locksmith Content for letting us edit in their incredible facility in Culver City -- it's making things run go much faster. I'm thrilled with what we have so far and it's been really fun splicing together the footage and re-living the experience -- like putting together a big puzzle. For as well as its going, however, editing will still take a great deal of time. So we're still several months away from having anything to show, but already we've lined up some really talented music composers and other folks who will help us make the film a success.

And finally, to get to your coveted and well-earned Kickstarter swag! For those of you who are still awaiting your swag packages, thank you for your patience. Buckles and some other items have already gone out. The good news is we've just received the t-shirts and I'm hoping to get all of the swag packages out this month (with the exception of those packages that include the finished film... you'll get everything else in the coming weeks, but unfortunately you'll have to wait on receiving the final movie a little longer...) -- regardless, mix tapes, sausage coupons, apocalyptic short films, bumper stickers, t-shirts and more are all soon forthcoming!

Thank you all for your continued support -- it fills me with so much joy to have your endorsement and we're working hard to tell a story that makes you proud.

Happy 2012!

Matt

Update #6: YEEE-HAAW!

Posted on September 1, 2011

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!

WE DID IT!! I know I've worn out the term by now, but thank you. I can't tell you how overwhelmed with gratitude I am for everyone banding together to make this happen. It was an insanely difficult feat to overcome, but it's now a huge vote of confidence for this film's potential. It wouldn't have been possible without every person who pledged, re-posted, sent the link out to friends and family (and apparently repeated posts to an entire international underworld of Brokeback Mountain enthusiasts?? Awesome.). You all humble and honor me with your encouragement over the past 30 days, and I'll continue working until the final frame is done in order to deserve it.

I'm so touched by the new names I learned on the backers list, as well as IGRA members, old friends and family who came together to make this campaign a success. The support, feedback and kind messages and comments you've given me are what will continue to drive me forward in making the best film I possibly can, one that I hope will make you proud. As I've said to some, this is certainly a great deal to live up to, but I couldn't be more honored or thrilled to get the chance.

As for the timeline of the film, I'm hoping to be able to release in Spring of 2012. The IGRA still has another 2 months of events, so principal photography will officially conclude in November, but I'll be sure to keep everyone updated as to how post-production is going -- I'm going to design a blog into the upcoming www.queensandcowboys.com that will soon host updates and pertinent info.

Over the next week or so, those who donated will be receiving an email requesting information so we can get you your hard earned swag! -- things like addresses, t-shirt sizes, etc. There are many people from all over the country who have graciously donated for this cause, so most items will be delivered after Finals in October (minus, obviously, the dvd of the film). Thank you all for your patience while we collect all the donations and prepare them for shipment.

But man, what a relief! This has been a long, stressful and crazy month, but one of the most fulfilling I've ever had. Thank you all for being a part of it, for your hard work and dedication in getting us funded, and for believing in me and this project. I can't wait to show off the final product!

With huge appreciation,

Matt

Update #3: QUEENS AND COWBOYS IS ALREADY 70% FUNDED!

Posted on August 22, 2011

Hello faithful supporters of Q&C!

What a landmark weekend for the little-film-that-could! Due to the growing press coverage and guerrilla campaigning by so many of you, WE ARE CURRENTLY 70% FUNDED! We've had an unprecedented surge in support for the film and overwhelmingly positive response that spans multiple continents and people from all backgrounds -- I can't describe how grateful I am that others share my belief that this story needs to be told. We are rounding third and gaining speed! But we only have 9 more days to bring us home!

The next week is critical to this project's success -- you honor this film by continuing to spread your enthusiasm to others. If there are any fresh incentives I might be able to offer on the site in its final week, I'm grateful for any suggestions or connections you might have to those with expendable swag. Thank you for those who have pledged and donated already!

For anyone interested, I'll be promoting the film this Thursday at 3:40PM/PST on a live interview with BloomingOUT Podcast -- http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/bloomingout/id309328101 as well as an exclusive upcoming spread downunder from our Australian supporters from OUTinPERTH -- http://www.outinperth.com/.

Thank you for all of your feedback and support for the film -- we're almost there. But remember, in order for this film to happen, we have to reach our entire goal - TO THE PENNY! - by NEXT WEDNESDAY at 8:59PM/PST!

But all in all, what an inspiring way to come out of an already awesome rodeo weekend in Chicago! I even had time to showboat on a bull that thankfully didn't move much : ) My arm's been recently set in a cast due to ligaments torn while training on a particularly bodacious bull who didn't take kindly to city-boys -- but I guess it's been a great excuse to focus on strengthening my legs! Even if I have to switch hands, I'm more amped than ever to get to compete at the Best Buck in the Bay Rodeo in San Francisco in LESS THAN THREE WEEKS (!)  September 10th & 11th. -- It's the last rodeo of the year before finals in October, and it couldn't be a better endcap to what's already been the experience of a lifetime -- I can't wait to share the full adventure with everyone.

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THE SUCCESS OF THIS SO FAR!

With tremendous gratitude,

Matt
