What is it?

The launch of the touring wing of Nomad Theatrical Company.  After 15 years of making riveting theater for New York City audiences, Nomad is taking the show on the road!  In fact we are taking two shows on road, bringing brand new productions of brand new plays to diverse audiences in small town America and the capital cities of Europe.

Why do we need a kickstart?

To post the bond required by Actors Equity Association as a guaranteed protection for the cast and crew of our domestic tour of THE FOOL’S LEAR and to obtain the airfare necessary to get the cast and crew of POLANSKI POLANSKI to Bucharest for our three city European tour.

Why should you back our project?

Because our shows are freakishly good! Because it is not New Yorkers alone who deserve to see cutting edge, rockem sockem theater! Because we work like animals to make awe inspiring theater on a threadbare shoestring budget and now it’s time to share our work on the road. And because we cannot make this happen without your help.

Impact?

THE FOOL’S LEAR, by Randy Neale, will be seen by audiences from Charleston, SC, to Richmond, VA, to Pontiac, MI and several cities in between.  This madcap and poignant play deals with themes of self identity, who owes whom in the parent-child relationship, and who suffers most when it comes to senile dementia.  Performed by the brothers Neale, together again at long last for the very first time. POLANSKI POLANSKI, by Saviana Stanesu, will be shared with audiences from around the globe, and give Nomad a solid presence in the International Theatrical scene.  We have been invited to play Teatrul Odeon in Bucharest one of the great cities of Central Europe, then we will play the Sibiu International Theater Festival which is attended by audiences and artists from more than 30 countries, after this we will perform as part of the Transylvanian International Film Festival in Cluj to an even more diverse and influential audience.  This fast paced stage play seamlessly incorporates English, French, and Polish language and utilizes the best elements of physical theater and film.  An exquisitely crafted play that cracks open the psycho-emotional consciousness of a fictionalized Roman Polanski.
