Update #4: SUCCESS! Now, just one more challenge...

As you can see from this video, Kiwi really needs to get it together.

To do this, we need lots and LOTS of bolts and nails to make sure the whole Temple doesn't fall over.

We've reached the transport & giant crane goal -- THANK YOU!! -- now, what if we can make it to $20,000?? We can buy lots and LOTS of shiny metal bolts.

We've asked so much from you already, and you've given so much more than we expected. This extra would be a real bonus for the Temple of Transition.

We're not quite sure how we can really express how deeply appreciate your love and support... sometimes it's hard to describe how much we feel our hearts expanding in the light of such gifts and opportunities for us to build for and serve Black Rock City.

But we have a feeling that if you're reading this, right now, you already know what we're trying to say.

Don't drop the ball...!! Wait... what?

Update #3: Stained Glass Windows

Here is an update from our lovely stained glass artist, Doug Taphouse:

"The colors are MUCH brighter when held up to the light, but I didn't have a good place to do that kind of photo yesterday.

In these pictures, Birth 1 and Decay 2 are still in progress (gluing and trimming/cleaning, respectively).

Designs are done for the two Death windows.  One of the Union designs is partially complete.  I'll have the last design done by the end of the week."

Update #2: Update 2: Load Out!

We're coming Home! )'(

Kiwi, Roadkill, Tim, Timmy and Ants are loading up the next truck at this very moment.

With just two days left in our final Kickstarter drive, we still have two thousand dollars to receive in order to get the next twelve loads out to Black Rock City.

With the "Golden Spike" having been driven just two days ago by the DPW, the City is now being surveyed out, and we'll soon know exactly where to take the walls, cloisters, ramps and decorative elements that will come together to make The Temple of Transition a reality, before our very eyes.

To be a part of this massive gift, you can donate as little as just one buckeroo.

Spread the word, bring us Home, and whatever happens, don't forget to bring your Sharpie pen with you when you come out into Deep Playa to see us!

Update #1: First loads are on their way!

As many of you will have seen from the photos over the past two months, our yard has been steadily filling up with hundreds of panels racked and stacked under tarps awaiting transportation to the Black Rock Desert in Northwest Nevada. It is now T-minus 17 days until 140 crew migrate to the desert, and only 36 short days until the gates open to welcome over 50,000 Burning Man attendees.

It is therefore (with great delight & not a little relief) that we are delighted to report that on Friday our very first load of panels were lifted by forklift onto a flatbed semi-trailer and trucked to the edge of the Black Rock Desert for staging – the Temple is on its way to Burning Man! We have six more loads departing this week for staging in Gerlach, just 13 short miles from the Temple site, and by the time our first crew members start on-playa build on the 12th of August, some 24 loads will have been delivered: an enormous logistical undertaking, and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank our loadin’ n yard leads, Insane Mike & Roadkill Nick, who between them have turned the largest ever Burning Man transport challenge into a veritable symphony of interlocking big rigs, forklifts, cranes, and coffee. We salute you!!

Stained Glass Temple Window: Sadly, but for good environmental reasons, we have to remove our 12 stained glass windows before the Burn. Temple Chandelier - For the same reasons as the windows, we will have to remove our beautiful chandeliers before we burn the Temple. 12' tall by 12' across, made of intricate steel latticework and shimmering stained glass, each chandelier reflects the theme of the Temple in which it resides.

In 2010 a small group of people from all over the world got together and decided to build an art installation at Burning Man. Megatropolis was conceived and evolved, against the odds, into an amazing experience for everybody involved. After it's fiery & explosive demise, and with a new understanding of the wonder & reciprocity of creating for the Burning Man Community, the Megatropolis Crew resolved to try harder, to grow, and to share this amazing experience with even more people in 2011.
