SHOW PREMISE
Two competing car buying agents explore one of the oldest and most storied roads in American history in search of lost stories, quirky characters, and rare cars from Route 99’s heyday.
This story is about the cars that introduce us to the people in our lives. Our buyers are paid to seek out the best deals in classic and collector cars……anything from Dodges to Duesenbergs. Sharing a common purpose in their lives, our characters come in contact with not only each other but also the stories and circumstances of the cars that make this highway so notorious.
Route 99, now stuck in the time of the Fifties and Sixties, it is not only abundant with offbeat characters, mysteries, and symbols of our history, but this chain of blacktop and side streets is also home to hundreds of specialty car shops. The show’s featured cars will lead us to the human relationships connected to them. Supplementing this is the visual and historical richness of the area that is still a part of Route 99.
This 17 part web series of half hour episodes will offer the concept of “life’s fulfillment is just around the next corner”. Our scripted acting becomes immersed in the surprises of each town. This series will be hosted by two different online networks here in the US.
ENTER OUR CHARACTERS………
Michael is a 40 year old automobile nut and loner whose interest for cars over anything else in life makes him a little crazy…..and a great car buyer. He has had a long history of owning cars (107 of them) and has combed wrecking yards all over the West to know what’s for sale and at what price. He can even recite carburetor numbers off most models and uses this knowledge to cope with the mile after mile buying process. His failed marriage to his high school sweetheart was cut short by his fixation on the car business. What Michael needs is a person who can teach him to trust situations that ultimately make life worth living.
Kristina, even in her late thirties, still maintains a youthful yet professional look. Her knowledge of old cars plus her ability to track down needle-in-a-haystack leads has made her a notorious Route 99 traveler. She got into the car buying business after taking a receptionist position at a car museum and was promoted to an outside buyer after only six years.
Early on the glitz and glamour of traveling fascinated her but over the years she has discovered that cars can be used as many things far removed from transportation. Unfortunately, the mile after mile grind of the highway has raised a few wrinkles on her face….no doubt from squinting through all those windshields. Perhaps the person that will provide inspiration in her life will be just around the next corner, or in the next town.
EPISODE ONE
We find our two characters headed for the same prized sale of a Cobra. Neither knows of the other’s interest in this car and they barely know each other than by reputation. They find themselves competing against each at first, then having to join forces to put a crooked car restorer out of business. Most of this episode will be shot in Lodi, CA.
INTERACTIVE COMPONENT
This show uses substantial input from our audience. Our website will be where we can interact with people who have had ‘on the road’ experiences and include some of these adventures in our episodes. Viewers will be able to submit pictures of their cars to us for possible use on the show. Consider these to be the equivalent of ‘extras’ in a movie. Our production crew and actors will be engaging in “Rallies” at many towns in order for people to bring their cars to be photographed or “B rolled” for the show

STRETCHING THE GOALS
Any extra funds that we receive will go toward production of Episode One. How involved do you want to get? I will have a director’s chair right next to mine in Lodi, CA, for the person that has a passion for this.
Most of all….I want you to be glad that you chose to be a part of this adventure. If you become a major contributor to the show (over $1,000) I want you to come up to the front of the line at one of our rallies, introduce yourself, and enjoy the camaraderie of our cast and crew.

Since this is a web TV series it is dependent upon web herders at first. These people have the ability to channel web traffic to our streaming sites. A great deal of time will be spent to work with herders by tweeking their efforts to maximize the viewership.
