Will Shakespeare as the best boy detective ever! By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.
London 1575: The Elizabethan Age of Exploration.
11-year-old Will Shakespeare is a bad boy. Fighting with other boys doesn’t get him into trouble this time, finding a gold coin does. His parents send him away under the protection of his uncle, a captain to the queen. Soon the drama of cutthroats and thieves within the castle walls ensnares him. Will’s quick wit and courage are his only weapons against the dark forces of murder and revenge.
13-year -old Betts is quite a little liar. She spins a tale she is the queen’s daughter and denied her place in the royal court. Presently, she is a scullery maid at Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress commonly known as the Tower of London. Betts thinks she can do anything a boy can do and has the grit and courage to prove it.
Will and Betts meet, instantly disliking each other. They have nothing in common except a wild imagination, a penchant for adventure and an ardent dislike for snobby royals.
When the thief of the crown jewels, including the magnificent ruby, Cleopatra’s Blood, rocks the monarchy, Will and Betts team up as ace detectives caught up in palace intrigue and danger.
The Wicked Will series are imaginative adventures based on what the world’s most brilliant playwright might have been like as a boy and the rumored daughter of Elizabeth I, a girl with the same spunk and cunning as her mother.
Will and Betts meet historical people as youngsters also such as future explorer Sir Walter Raleigh and future astronomer Galileo.
Today’s students will learn in school about these historical writers, explorers and scientists, all the facts and dates. Pretty dry stuff. Now there’s Wicked Will, an adventure tale that transports readers to a time when these figures were vibrant and inquisitive youths just as they are now.
Wicked Will brings history to life!
Join Will and Betts in their world of exploration and wonder. For readers 8-12.
