Cleonice and The Maine Grind converge to bring grilled gourmet pizzas to Downtown Ellsworth's finest Coffee House.
We,
Rich and Cary Hanson, have taken over ownership of The Maine Grind as
of the new year. We are introducing more from-scratch foods made with
more local ingredients, keeping the great coffees, baked goods, and
dishes that folks love, while adding our culinary talents to the mix.
We've hired Peter Voigt, most recently from Lily's Cafe, to help us
manage the grind. He brings great energy and experience to this
endeavor.
The next step is to add the grilled gourmet pizza,
and that's where you come in. We need a convection oven, a grill,
some pizza making supplies and we need to install a hood. We'll also
need some money for a marketing budget and working capital while we
put together this exciting venture.
We hope to have our kitchen renovations ready by late February, so we can begin booking music and planning special events. Every little bit
counts, each donation brings us one step closer to our dream and your
new favorite spot for a casual dinner. Please help us make this dream
a reality.

We've broken down the process of moving into several steps. The first step was to take over the Maine Grind, the second step is to introduce pizza and evening service to the Grind. With the pizza in place, we can generate income to put into our big move into the street level of The Maine Grind building, the old Mason's hall.
as of 2/26 Cleonice has a verbal lease extension. Working on a formal. Cleonice will be at 112 Main St until Jan of 2013 we are working with the folks who will be taking over the space for a smooth transition.

We love what we do, we love working with local farmers and fishermen, we love our employees, we love creating great food, and we love creating a dining experience for you to remember. We do what we do for these reasons. Margins in fine dining are small, and even precarious in a seasonal and more rural area as we live in. Raising money from banks has become very tight and many banks refuse to even look at restaurants because they are such a risky venture. This is why we're asking you, our customers, friends, and neighbors, to help us keep Cleonice.
