ABOUT US
We are a group of passionate filmmakers from Connecticut. We believe that independent filmmaking is not only possible in today’s economy but also essential to sustaining movies as a meaningful art form. We make movies because we love movies, and we always strive for quality and professionalism. Working with an incredibly inventive and dedicated crew, we gave LOVERS' LEAP a high production value, while keeping the project within the stringent budget parameters we started with. Without exceptions, we donated our time and energy to this project, our only compensation being the satisfaction that we are making a movie we can be proud of.
THE STORY
LOVERS' LEAP is a short romantic comedy which explores the heightened emotional reality of high school kids. It is the story of Sherman, a socially awkward science geek who is shunned by his peers at one of the most memorable moments in every teen's life - prom night. In a state of utter despair, Sherman goes to the woods with dark thoughts on his mind. He reaches a clearing next to a tall cliff, but there, unexpectedly, he chances upon his cute and equally nerdy classmate Stacy. This impromptu encounter ultimately takes Sherman and Stacy for an emotional rollercoaster ride that is both intense and uplifting.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
We went through a challenging but rewarding production. We used state-of-the-art sound and camera equipment, an adept lighting style, dazzling costumes, and a host of beautiful locations. WHY WE NEED YOU
We intend to put the money raised through Kickstarter towards editing and finishing this movie. We shot on the RED ONE, undoubtedly one of the best cameras out there. Handling RED footage takes significant expertise and high-end post production facilities. We will also invest in a tight cut, outstanding color correction, professional soundtrack, and some sky replacement video effects, which will make Lovers’ Leap a stunning movie to watch on screens both small and big. As always, we will be budget conscious, and we will work hard to put every dollar on the screen.

Atanas is an award-winning filmmaker based in Connecticut. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Boston University and a M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the UMass Boston. Some of his previous directing credits include MOONSHINE and LEMON PIE AND A BLACK EYE - both quirky comedies featuring odd young characters. LOVERS' LEAP is his fifth short film project.
