Filmmaking is sadly one of the most expensive mediums in the history of the world.

Through ingenuity, determination, and collaboration, the short pieces below have been possible.

I take passionate care in producing work that I feel presents high production value with low cost.

I look forward to pushing the boundaries of my resources with this feature film.

WHAT IS "HAPPY HOLIDAYS DEATH GANG HALLOWEEN SPECIAL"?

That's a working title by the way.  Unless you like it.  You do?  OK, cool.

It's a really crazy movie that mixes a ton of genres and is mind-melting to watch!

The film follows a group of dysfunctional, delusional, and immature young adults.  They are a DEATH GANG.

This means they ride dirt bikes, throws knives at each other, carry machine guns, and punch things with brass knuckles.  They wear colorful, patterned ski masks and jean jackets.  When they aren't blowing stuff up, they eat pizza and candy.

They are cool.  

DEATH GANG lives in a winter woodland wonderland that fuses Christmas, Halloween, and middle school summer vacation.

Nothing is exactly real here.  There are man-eating rats, rat-eating men, killer trees, and at least one talking cat.

Anything might come out of those woods.  And many things do.

When his gang conspires against him, our Hero must cross the river to find truth, happiness, and a babe.

WHY A FEATURE?

Good question!  

Features are important.  Features launch careers.  Features are cool!

Often a filmmaker spends time working on various short form projects first as a way to hone the craft and because shorter things cost less.  

I have been doing this for many years.

Short things are great, like skits and music videos, and I hope to continue to do short things forever.

But the monster beast called The Feature Film is calling to me.

The ultimate goal is to submit the finished film to popular film festivals as well as to distribute the film as a potential new cult favorite.

HOW DID THIS START?

A talented ensemble of fellow writers, actors, filmmakers, and cool people in general has been assembled.

We've created together, travelled together, and in some cases lived together.

We began thinking along the lines of a feasible full length film.

Something doable.

Something that harnessed our collective creative energy, utilized our current resources, and captured some of our naturally bizarre experiences and perspectives.

This is what we came up with.

WHAT IS THE SHOOTING METHOD?

We will be shooting in a cabin in the woods for ten days.

It will act as multiple sets and as our production office.

The script caters to improvisation and impromptu re-writes. 

It will be a very creatively immersive and collaborative environment.

After ten days we will exit the woods with principal photography of a feature film and hopefully few or no injuries.

WHAT ARE THE FUNDS FOR?

Camera Department, Sound Department, Talent (actors have to be compensated for skipping their day jobs), Location, Transportation, Hard Drives, Food, Props, Set Pieces, Wardrobe, Hair/Makeup, Costumes/Character Design, Puppets/Creature Design, and there's always so much more. . .

HOW DOES KICKSTARTER WORK?

KICKSTARTER is based on an "all or nothing" pledge system.

If we DO NOT reach the goal amount of $10,000 by the deadline of 12:00AM January 1st, 2012, NOTHING HAPPENS.

Your pledges are canceled and the project does not get made.

However, if we DO reach our goal, your Amazon accounts will be charged on 12:00AM January 1st, 2012.

If the world ends, we all die.

Here's what's beautiful:

WE CAN EXCEED THE GOAL AMOUNT.

We can continue to accept donations far and beyond $10,000.

Because of this framework, I've set my goal amount low.

My breakdown on budget scenarios is as follows:

CONSERVATIVE GOAL: $10,000 

A great start.  I would be thrilled to hit our conservative goal!  But this truly is the bare bones of the bare bones number.  We can get a version of the vision done, but it won't be easy.  We will have to make some sacrifices on props, wardrobe, and equipment.  Half the budget would immediately go to basic logistics like sound, food, and location.  We wouldn't be able to put makeup on Brett Glass, which is a scary thought.  The production would rely heavily on favors, but we'd get it done.

IDEAL GOAL: $25,000 

This is a really great number.  I would be overwhelmed with joy if we hit this goal!  In this scenario, we'll have enough funds to get really specific with equipment, props, and wardrobe.  This is a number more reflective of what the script calls for. We won't be sweating the small stuff and we'll be able to spend more days shooting if we need to.

DREAM GOAL: $40,000+

With this amount or higher we can live the dream of seeing this vision excel in ways we haven't dared consider yet.  We'll be able to afford everything we need and more, including explosions and llama rentals.  Above all, we would be able to properly compensate cast and crew for their time.

Each of these goal amounts are exciting in their own way and my gratitude cannot be expressed in words.
