Hello, Backers!

We've finished sending out links to the PDF version of Math Girls Manga Vol I, and as far as we know have responded to all bounced emails, reports of broken links, etc.  If you haven't heard from us, or you're getting an error message when you try to download the PDF, please let us know at sales@bentobooks.com.

As to the printed edition, we're done fixing what needed to be fixed (knock on wood), and have resubmitted the files to our printer. The files will go through a quality check there, then we'll be sent a proof to sign off on. How long this will take depends on how full our printer's current schedule is, but we hope that we'll have a proof by the end of next week. We'll let you know how things are going then!

We’ve started sending out emails with links to download the PDF of the manga. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, you should receive an email from sales@bentobooks.com in the next few days. We did encounter an issue with the first batch of emails that went out, so if your link doesn’t work, or you’ve received a 9MB file instead of the 110MB zip file, please email us and we will get you a new link as soon as possible.

Hello, Math Girls Manga backers!

Good news! We've made our final content tweaks, so we're happy to announce that we will be delivering digital (PDF) versions within the week. You'll be receiving download links by email, so please be sure that "sales@bentobooks.com" is not spam-blocked by your email software.

Regarding the print version, we're posting a status update to let you know where things stand (thank you, backer Nick Austin, for prodding us to do so!). For the nitty-gritty details you can check out my reply to Nick in the Comments section, but the short version is that we expect books to start shipping in April. 

We would also like to mention that we have a new Kickstarter project running, for our next planned Bento Books release. This is for a translation of Black Wave, a suspense novel set in the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. We think this book is one of the best ways to experience the myriad ways in which the earthquake and resulting tsunami affected people throughout Japan. We are sincerely thankful for your patience regarding delays in finishing the Math Girls Manga. We'll post another update when our printer notifies us of their expected delivery time. The T-shirts have arrived!

We're in the process of submitting files to our printer and getting a proof made. As soon as everything clears and we learn what our printing schedule will be, we'll post another update here!

Hello everyone! A quick update on the status of how things are progressing with the Math Girls Comic.

The lettering is mostly done. This week we got a first draft back from our letterer, and now we have to go through every frame to look for errors and needed edits. In general things look great, and we're very happy with the results. I've attached a sample page to this post for you to check out.

We also have a completed cover! The cover design was done by a backer, Kasia Bytnerowicz, and we love what she's done! We can't wait to see the physical book in our hands. I've attached a preview of the cover to this post as well.

After proofing is done, we'll get final files from the letterer and assemble everything into a book. We'll submit those files to our printer, they’ll send us galleys to check and approve, and if necessary do another fix/submit/proof round. We'll keep you updated as things progress!
