My next album Casualties will be the best yet. Trouble and The Keys were both intermediate measures, so this will offically be my fourth solo album. The songs are all written -- about fifteen of them will appear on the disc, though I'm not completely sure which they'll be. A few have appeared on either Trouble or The Keys, but the versions on Casualties will be different. Definitely on Casualties: "Haunted," "Survival," "Bruises," "Cruelty," "Fugue Fugue," and "Casualties." Tentative track listing is now at http://unwoman.com/casualties.html
My last day working at my day job is February 2. I plan to spend nearly the whole month working on the album, and send it to press in early March. Since my first album, which was amateurish and experimental because I was only 20, I've never had the luxury of any time off in which to record and produce an album, but have persevered and done well with the time I had for Wildness and Artifice, Blossoms, and Trouble/The Keys. Expectations are high for this one -- perfection is what I'm after, but I'll settle for extraordinarily awesome and on time if I must.
I'm going all-out on the cover art for Casualties. This last Sunday (1/24), Audrey Penven http://www.audreypenven.net/ shot me at an abandoned train station in Oakland, with my mom Kat Mulkey assisting. Audrey caught some amazing images, and folks are already mocking up their favorite picks for my album cover over on Audrey's flickr. The picture here is probably not the cover image -- that won't be chosen until pretty soon before the album goes to press.
The album will be released by May 2010. Kickstarter funders will be the first to receive album download codes, and first by a day or two to have packages mailed if pledging $14 or more.
Tune in to a live ustream performance, Feb 2, 8:00 pm PST.
